Hyundai’s published output figures put the hybrid 42 hp ahead, but they describe different powertrains: 287 hp for the V6 and 329 hp combined for the hybrid system. Those figures do not, by themselves, establish how either version feels in every driving situation. Hyundai’s U.S. specifications are on its 2026 Palisade page and Palisade Hybrid page.
What fuel economy does each version get?
Hyundai lists the following U.S. EPA estimates in city/highway/combined mpg. The figures vary by drivetrain and trim, so the highest estimate should not be treated as representative of every Palisade.
Gas V6
- FWD: 19/25/21 mpg.
- AWD: 18/24/20 mpg.
- XRT PRO: 16/22/19 mpg.
Hybrid
- Blue SEL and SEL Premium, FWD: 33/35/34 mpg.
- Other FWD trims: 31/32/31 mpg.
- AWD trims: 29/30/29 mpg.
These are EPA estimates published by Hyundai Motor America; actual mileage varies. Compare the estimate for the specific trim and drivetrain you are considering, rather than comparing the best-rated hybrid configuration with every gas version.

How much can the 2026 Palisade tow?
Hyundai publishes a maximum rating of 5,000 pounds for the gas Palisade and 4,000 pounds for the hybrid. These are maximums, not blanket ratings for every configuration: Hyundai says capacity varies by configuration, and the maximum requires trailer brakes. Confirm the rating and required equipment for the exact vehicle in its documentation before towing.
Hitch fitment also varies. Hyundai’s launch announcement identifies XRT PRO, Limited and Calligraphy as trims with an integrated, concealed OEM hitch; the U.S. model page describes an integrated hitch as available. Do not assume every gas trim includes one. Check the current equipment listing for the particular trim and consult the owner’s manual. Which powertrain makes more sense?
Choose the V6 if towing capacity is the priority
The gas model has the higher published maximum tow rating. That advantage matters only if the specific vehicle, hitch, trailer brakes and trailer setup are suitable for the intended load; the 5,000-pound maximum is not universal across configurations.
Choose the hybrid if fuel economy is the priority
The hybrid’s published EPA estimates are higher across the listed configurations, and Hyundai rates its combined system output at 329 hp. The exact estimate depends on trim and whether the vehicle is FWD or AWD.

Compare the exact trims before deciding
Hyundai lists starting MSRPs by trim on its U.S. vehicle pages, but a starting price is not a final purchase price. Dealer pricing, freight, tax, title and license can change the amount due. Compare the two actual trims you would buy, including drivetrain and towing equipment, using current manufacturer and dealer figures.

The 2026 U.S. Palisade is documented with a 3.5-liter V6, but the official material cited here does not provide a complete inventory of engines across Hyundai’s lineup. Calling it the “last V6 standing” as a verified Hyundai-wide fact would go beyond what those sources establish. The defensible point is narrower: the U.S. Palisade remains available with a V6 alongside a new hybrid powertrain.
