The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid makes a strong case as the better all-around Palisade for drivers who value fuel economy and power over maximum towing. Hyundai estimates its hybrid system at 329 hp—more than the V6’s estimated 287 hp—and EPA ratings reach 34 mpg combined in front-wheel-drive form. The trade-off is a lower stated maximum tow rating: 4,000 pounds for the hybrid versus 5,000 pounds for the V6. That makes the hybrid the more compelling choice for many families, but not a universal replacement for the gas model.
Is the 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid better than the V6?
For everyday family use, the hybrid has the stronger numbers on paper: Hyundai estimates more system horsepower and torque, and its EPA-estimated fuel economy is substantially higher. The V6 remains the better fit if your priority is the Palisade’s highest stated towing capacity.
There is an important distinction between official ratings and road-test results. Hyundai’s output and towing figures are estimates in its launch announcement, while fuel-economy numbers on the current U.S. model page are EPA estimates. Edmunds, in an AP-hosted comparison, reported acceleration results from its testing; that was not a controlled Palisade V6-versus-hybrid comparison.

Hyundai announced the redesigned 2026 Palisade in April 2025. Its hybrid is the first in the nameplate. The 2.5-liter engine itself is rated at up to 258 hp before the electric motors’ contribution; the 329-hp figure is the estimated combined system output, not the engine’s standalone rating. Hyundai describes the V6 figure as “up to” 287 hp.

The tow ratings are not a promise that every trim or drivetrain can tow the same load. Hyundai says available HTRAC all-wheel drive includes Tow Mode, but buyers should verify the exact vehicle’s configuration and follow its owner’s manual before towing.
How many miles per gallon does the 2026 Palisade Hybrid get?
These are U.S. EPA-estimated ratings published on Hyundai’s current 2026 model page. The actual figure depends on configuration, and Hyundai says mileage varies with options, driving conditions, driving habits, and vehicle condition.

Hyundai also advertises estimated range of up to 619 miles for the Blue SEL and SEL Premium FWD, calculated from an 18.2-gallon tank and the 34-mpg combined EPA estimate. Its advertised AWD estimate is 528 miles, based on the same tank size and 29-mpg combined rating. These are estimates, not guaranteed distances between fill-ups; driving conditions and other factors affect real-world range.

How much can the Palisade Hybrid tow?
Hyundai estimates the hybrid’s maximum towing capacity at 4,000 pounds, compared with a stated maximum of 5,000 pounds for the V6. If you regularly tow a heavy trailer, that 1,000-pound difference may outweigh the hybrid’s fuel-economy and output advantages. Check the towing limit for the exact trim and equipment, and consult the owner’s manual for operating requirements.

By Hyundai’s estimated output figures, yes: the hybrid’s 329 hp and 339 lb-ft exceed the V6’s up-to-287 hp and 260 lb-ft. That does not by itself establish how the two feel in every driving situation, and the available acceleration comparison is not a direct head-to-head test of both Palisade powertrains.
Edmunds reported that the V6 Palisade it tested reached 60 mph in 8.8 seconds, while both the Palisade and Telluride hybrids in its comparison reached 60 mph in around seven seconds. Those are Edmunds’ test results, reported by AP; they are useful context, not a controlled comparison of the Palisade Hybrid against the Palisade V6.

What changed in the redesigned 2026 Palisade?
Hyundai says the new generation has a wheelbase 2.7 inches longer and an overall length 2.5 inches greater than the outgoing Palisade. The cabin adds available relaxation seating in the first and second rows, a reworked third row, and cupholders and 100-watt-capable USB-C ports accessible in each row.
An available built-in dual-camera dashcam can record while driving and use vehicle sensors for parked recording. Hyundai says footage can be reviewed on the head-unit screen or transferred using the MicroSD card in the glovebox; its launch announcement does not specify card compatibility requirements.
In Edmunds’ comparison, the tested Palisade’s power-sliding and reclining third row made space for hard-sided luggage, even though the Telluride had more cargo volume on paper behind its third row. That is a test observation from one comparison, not a guarantee of how every load will fit.

Which 2026 Palisade Hybrid trim and drivetrain makes sense?
If maximizing the EPA estimate is the goal, the Blue SEL and SEL Premium FWD configurations lead Hyundai’s published hybrid lineup at 34 mpg combined. The FWD Limited and Calligraphy are rated at 31 mpg combined, while the listed AWD trims are rated at 29 mpg combined. The AWD choice brings the traction system and Tow Mode availability described by Hyundai, but it carries a lower EPA estimate than the corresponding FWD range.
Hyundai’s U.S. page currently lists starting MSRPs of $44,160 for Hybrid SEL and $51,990 for Hybrid Limited. These are listed starting prices, not guaranteed transaction prices; freight, tax, title, license, dealer pricing, and availability can affect what a buyer pays. Verdict: the right Palisade depends on what you need
The hybrid is the more convincing default for a family SUV buyer who wants stronger estimated output and better EPA fuel economy than the V6. The V6 still has a clear purpose: Hyundai’s higher stated maximum tow rating. Choose based on the work the vehicle needs to do, not the assumption that one powertrain is best for every Palisade buyer. Hyundai SVP Olabisi Boyle described the hybrid, combustion model, and XRT as a lineup intended to give drivers different fits; the numbers support that framing more than a one-size-fits-all verdict.
