For 2026, the Honda Civic Sedan is the less expensive, more compact option; the Accord Sedan costs more and offers more rear-seat and trunk space. Honda lists four Civic trims and six Accord trims, with hybrid versions in both lineups. The right comparison is between specific trims: equipment, power and EPA fuel-economy ratings vary within each model.

Price: the Civic starts lower, but compare trims
Honda lists a starting MSRP of $24,695 for the 2026 Civic Sedan and $28,395 for the 2026 Accord Sedan—a $3,700 difference before taxes, fees, options or dealer pricing. Those figures are starting prices, not out-the-door quotes.
The model-line starting prices do not tell the whole story: each lineup has several trims, and a higher-trim Civic may cost more than an entry-level Accord. Set a budget, then compare the equipment and price of the particular trims you would actually buy. Honda provides model-year listings for the sedan family.

Size and passenger space: the Accord is roomier
The Accord is 195.7 inches long, compared with 184.8 inches for the Civic. Both list 42.3 inches of front legroom, but the Accord has 40.8 inches of rear legroom versus 37.4 inches in the Civic. Honda lists 16.7 cubic feet of Accord cargo volume and 14.8 cubic feet for the Civic.
Those published measurements favor the Accord for rear passengers and luggage. They describe dimensions and cargo capacity, not how comfortable a particular passenger will find either car; if space matters, check the actual seating and luggage fit you need.

Fuel economy: compare the exact powertrain and trim
Honda lists combined EPA ratings spanning 34–49 mpg for the Civic Sedan and 31–48 mpg for the Accord Sedan. The top listed Civic rating is one mpg higher, but that does not mean every Civic is more efficient than every Accord. For example, Honda lists 36 mpg combined for the Civic LX and 32 mpg combined for the Accord LX. Compare the rating for the exact trim and powertrain rather than relying on the model name or the best figure in each range.

2026 Honda Civic Sedan
The Civic lineup has four trims: LX and Sport with gasoline power, plus Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid. Honda lists 150 hp for the gasoline trims and 200 total system horsepower for the hybrids. 2026 Honda Accord Sedan
The Accord has six trims: LX and SE with gasoline power, and Sport Hybrid, EX-L Hybrid, Sport-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid. Honda lists a 192-hp turbocharged engine for the gasoline trims and 204 hp for the four hybrids. Feature availability is trim-specific; a feature listed for a top trim should not be assumed standard across the lineup. Confirm equipment on the exact trim before deciding.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Civic if a lower starting MSRP, shorter overall length or the highest listed combined EPA rating is more important to you. Check the exact Civic trim’s price and rating.
- Choose the Accord if you want more listed rear legroom and cargo volume, or prefer its six-trim lineup. Its starting MSRP is higher, so compare the equipment and cost of the trim you want against the Civic alternative.
- Compare both if you are deciding between hybrid options or higher trims. The power, fuel-economy rating and included features depend on the specific version.
