Honda equips the SP with Öhlins rear suspension and Brembo Stylema front calipers; Suzuki highlights multiple ride and traction-control modes. Honda is lighter and lists a lower US price, while Suzuki has the larger fuel tank. The available manufacturer figures do not establish which one makes more peak power.
Which motorcycles are being compared?
This comparison focuses on the 2026 US-market Honda CB1000 Hornet SP and the 2026 US-market Suzuki GSX-S1000. Keeping the model year and market consistent matters: Honda’s published numeric output figures in the sources below are for a different bike specification, the 2025 UK-market Hornet SP, and should not be treated as a like-for-like US comparison.
How do their specifications compare?
| Specification | 2026 Honda CB1000 Hornet SP (US) | 2026 Suzuki GSX-S1000 (US) |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 1,000cc liquid-cooled inline-four | 999cc liquid-cooled DOHC four-cylinder |
| Transmission | Six-speed manual | Six-speed |
| Curb weight | 465 lb | 472 lb |
| Seat height | 31.9 in | 31.9 in |
| Fuel capacity | 4.5 US gal | 5.0 US gal |
| Wheelbase | 57.3 in | 57.5 in |
| Base MSRP | $10,999 | $11,989 |
| Destination charge | $775 | $700 |
The dimensions and weights are manufacturer-listed US specifications. The prices are listed manufacturer figures, not dealer quotes or out-the-door totals; Honda’s listed base price plus destination is $11,774, and Suzuki’s is $12,689. Confirm current pricing and availability with the manufacturer or a dealer.
Which one is more powerful?
The available figures do not support a verified peak-power winner. Honda’s UK specification for the 2025 CB1000 Hornet SP lists 115.6 kW at 11,000 rpm and 107 Nm at 9,000 rpm. Suzuki’s 2026 US GSX-S1000 page describes its engine but does not provide a matching numeric peak-power or peak-torque figure. Because those figures are missing for Suzuki—and Honda’s published numbers concern a different market and model year—do not use them to claim the Honda is more powerful than the 2026 US Suzuki.

Honda says the Hornet SP’s engine is based on CBR1000RR architecture and tuned for street-oriented midrange power and torque. That is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent comparative test.
How do their equipment and rider aids differ?
Honda: suspension and brake hardware
The Hornet SP pairs a 41mm inverted Showa SFF-BP front fork with a Pro-Link Öhlins rear shock. Its front brakes use Brembo Stylema calipers; Honda’s US specification also lists a 240mm Nissin rear disc. A five-inch TFT and quick shifter are among the features listed on Honda’s US overview.

Suzuki: selectable modes and quick shifting
The GSX-S1000 lists Suzuki Drive Mode Selector with three modes and traction control with five modes. Its equipment also includes ride-by-wire, a bidirectional quick shifter and ABS-equipped Brembo four-piston, twin-disc front brakes.
These manufacturer descriptions identify the published equipment; they do not prove that an unmentioned feature is absent from the other motorcycle. Nor do component names alone establish which bike handles or brakes better in real-world riding.

Which is the better value?
On the manufacturers’ listed 2026 US prices, Honda has the lower base MSRP by $990. Its destination charge is $75 higher, leaving its listed base-plus-destination total $915 below Suzuki’s. Those figures exclude any dealer-specific charges, taxes, registration costs, discounts or optional equipment, so they are a useful starting comparison rather than a final purchase quote.
The value difference also comes with different specification trade-offs: Honda lists premium Öhlins rear suspension and Stylema front calipers at the lower price, while Suzuki’s published feature list calls out five traction-control modes, three drive modes and a five-gallon tank. Which combination matters more depends on a rider’s priorities; the specifications alone cannot determine overall value for every buyer.

What should riders take away?
- Consider the Honda if its lower listed US price, 465 lb curb weight, Öhlins rear shock and Brembo Stylema front calipers are the strongest match for your priorities.
- Consider the Suzuki if its larger listed tank and clearly specified selectable drive and traction-control modes matter more to you.
- Compare them in person for riding position, control reach and comfort. Both manufacturers list a 31.9-inch seat height, but that number alone does not establish how either bike will fit an individual rider.
- Do not decide on a power-ranking headline alone: the available published figures are not a like-for-like comparison of the 2026 US models.
