The 2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC is a supercharged, track-oriented addition to the Dark Horse lineup. Ford rates its 5.2-liter V8 at 795 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Ford calls it race bred because Ford Racing and road-car teams developed it alongside the Mustang GTD and GT3 programs; that connection describes the development process, not independently verified race-car performance.
What the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC is
The Dark Horse SC is a more powerful, more extensively equipped version of the naturally aspirated Dark Horse. Ford’s U.S. model page lists a supercharged, cross-plane-crank 5.2-liter V8, a seven-speed TREMEC dual-clutch transmission, and a carbon-fiber driveshaft. Ford says the engine is shared with the Mustang GTD. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Ford’s Dark Horse SC specifications
| Specification | Ford’s stated figure or equipment |
|---|---|
| Engine | 5.2-liter supercharged cross-plane-crank V8 |
| Maximum horsepower | 795 hp |
| Torque | 660 lb-ft |
| Transmission | Seven-speed TREMEC dual-clutch |
| Driveshaft | Carbon fiber |
Ford Racing says the standard SC uses Brembo brakes with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers and cast discs. The optional Track Pack replaces that braking setup with carbon-ceramic brakes. Ford’s model specifications Ford Racing’s April 2026 announcement
What makes it “race bred”
Ford says Ford Racing motorsports staff and road-car engineers worked together on the SC while development of the Mustang GTD and GT3 was underway. Ford reports testing the SC alongside GTD and GT3 cars at Sebring and Virginia International Raceway. This supports a connection in team, development and engineering context; it does not establish that the road car matches a race car’s performance.

What the Track Pack adds
The Track Pack changes several systems at once, rather than adding only an appearance package. Ford lists the following equipment for the package:
- 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels.
- Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, in Ford Racing’s reported custom sizes of 305/30R20 at the front and 315/30R20 at the rear.
- Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes.
- Revised ducktail and carbon-fiber rear wing.
- Package-specific MagneRide suspension calibration.
- Rear-seat delete.
Ford Racing estimates that the Track Pack reduces weight by about 150 pounds. It attributes that approximate reduction to the package’s equipment, including the carbon-fiber wheels and rear-seat delete. The tire sizes are reported for this custom-developed fitment; verify exact vehicle fitment and current availability before buying tires. Ford Racing’s Track Pack details

Aero and cooling claims
Ford says the Track Pack’s ducktail and carbon-fiber wing generate 620 pounds of downforce at 180 mph. Ford Racing also says the redesigned decklid improves rear-wing efficiency by around 10 percent, and describes changes to the rear diffuser, belly pan and brake cooling. These are Ford-reported engineering figures and features, not independent measurements. Ford’s model page Ford Racing’s January 2026 article
Ford Racing says the revised hood and carbon-fiber vent provide 2.5 times the downforce of the standard Dark Horse when the rain tray is removed. The cited statement is a relative comparison; Ford’s article does not provide an absolute downforce figure for that specific hood comparison. Ford Racing’s April 2026 announcement

Standard coupe or Track Pack?
The standard coupe retains rear seats and uses cast-disc Brembo brakes. The Track Pack trades some everyday flexibility for hardware Ford describes as more track focused.
| Area | Standard Dark Horse SC coupe | Dark Horse SC with Track Pack |
|---|---|---|
| Wheels and tires | Not stated on the cited pages | 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels; Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires |
| Brakes | Brembo, six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers with cast discs | Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes |
| Aero | Ford’s stated 620-pound downforce figure is not specified for this configuration | Ford claims 620 pounds at 180 mph from the ducktail and carbon-fiber wing |
| Suspension | Not stated on the cited pages | Track Pack-specific MagneRide calibration |
| Rear seating and weight | Rear seats retained | Rear-seat delete; Ford Racing estimates about 150 pounds less weight |
Ford’s figures do not establish how much faster either configuration is around a particular circuit. The Track Pack’s equipment points to its intended use, but comparative lap-time results are not provided in the sources cited here.

Coupe and convertible timing
Ford Racing said coupe orders opened April 23, 2026, with initial deliveries scheduled for summer 2026. That was Ford’s announced schedule, not confirmation that deliveries were completed. Check with a Ford dealer for current order status or inventory. Ford Racing’s April 23, 2026 announcement
Ford announced a Dark Horse SC convertible on August 17, 2026, retaining the 795-horsepower powertrain. Ford said convertible orders were planned for fall 2026 and dealer arrivals for spring 2027; these dates were announced plans and may change. Ford describes the convertible’s suspension tuning as oriented toward street driving rather than lap-time priorities. Ford Racing’s convertible announcement
