The gas-powered 2026 Dodge Charger R/T pairs a 420-hp twin-turbo six-cylinder with standard all-wheel drive and a four-door sedan configuration that offers a hidden hatch and up to 37.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded. Dodge also publishes a 4.6-second 0–60 mph claim and 23 mpg combined, but those figures are manufacturer claims—not independent test results. The R/T starts at a U.S. MSRP of $49,995 as a two-door or $51,995 as a four-door, before tax, title, and fees.
Is the 2026 Dodge Charger R/T a sedan?
The four-door Charger is technically a sedan, Dodge says, while the company also describes the Charger as a muscle car based on its performance focus. The two-door R/T is a coupe, so the sedan description applies specifically to the four-door body style.
Both body styles use a hidden-hatch layout. Dodge says the rear seats fold flat to provide 37.4 cubic feet of cargo capacity. The company compares that with the outgoing Charger, claiming 38% more rear cargo volume behind the seats and 127% more with them folded. Those are Dodge-reported comparisons, not independent luggage-test measurements.
What engine and performance does the R/T have?
The gas-powered R/T uses Dodge’s 3.0-liter twin-turbo SIXPACK Standard Output inline-six, rated by the automaker at 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque. Dodge says the engine reaches full torque by 2,500 rpm and can produce up to 22 psi of boost.

Dodge claims a 0–60 mph time of 4.6 seconds and a 12.9-second quarter-mile. The company says that makes the new R/T 0.5 second quicker to 60 mph and 0.6 second quicker in the quarter-mile than the prior 5.7-liter HEMI-powered R/T, with 50 more horsepower and 73 more lb-ft of torque. These are Dodge’s 2026 figures; no independent performance test is established here.
Standard all-wheel drive, selectable rear drive
All-wheel drive is standard. Dodge says an on-demand rear-drive mode can send 100% of torque to the rear wheels at the push of a button. The listed drive modes are Sport, Auto, Eco, and Wet/Snow.

Fuel economy
Dodge lists 23 mpg combined for the R/T. This is the manufacturer’s figure, not an independently measured result; fuel-economy certification and actual results can depend on configuration and conditions.
How the R/T compares with other Chargers
The R/T is the lower-output gas SIXPACK trim. Dodge rates the Scat Pack’s SIXPACK High Output engine at 550 hp. The Daytona Scat Pack is a separate all-electric Charger, so its specifications should not be confused with the R/T’s gasoline powertrain.

The published specifications establish the R/T’s claimed power, acceleration, fuel economy, drivetrain, and cargo capacity. They do not establish how the car rides, steers, sounds, or feels in traffic, nor do they provide independent real-world fuel-economy results. Dodge calls the Charger an everyday driver and describes its interior as award-winning; those are the manufacturer’s characterizations, not independent evaluations.
Best Value
Dodge CEO Matt McAlear described the R/T as “a muscle car that can double as an everyday driver” and said it “significantly outperforms the previous 5.7-liter HEMI Charger R/T.” Those remarks are company statements, not road-test findings.
