The 2026 Corvette ZR1X pairs a twin-turbo V8 with a front electric drive unit for 1,250 hp of manufacturer-rated combined output and electrified all-wheel drive. Chevrolet reports a 6:49.275 Nürburgring lap, but the available figures do not establish that it beat the Ferrari F80 or McLaren W1 on track. Its showroom case is clearer: Chevrolet’s 2025 price announcement listed the ZR1X’s entry trim at a fraction of the two European cars’ cited base MSRPs.
What is the Corvette ZR1X?
The ZR1X is Chevrolet’s 2026 all-wheel-drive Corvette, combining a mid-mounted 5.5-liter LT7 twin-turbo V8 with an electric drive unit on the front axle. Chevrolet describes the system as electrified all-wheel drive: the V8 sends power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the electric unit drives the front wheels.
Chevrolet rates the combined system at 1,250 hp: 1,064 hp from the V8 and 186 hp from the front electric drive unit. Those are manufacturer figures; the combined rating does not mean the two components necessarily reach their individual peak outputs at the same time. The company also specifies dual 76-mm turbochargers, a flat-plane crankshaft, dry-sump lubrication and anti-lag controls.
How fast is it, and what does the Nürburgring time prove?
Chevrolet reported a 6:49.275 lap of the 12.9-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife on July 31, 2025. The driver was Drew Cattell, a Corvette vehicle-dynamics engineer. Chevrolet characterized the result as the fastest lap by a non-professional racecar driver among the official record laps it cited, and as the fastest lap by an American manufacturer at that time. These are the company’s lap result and record descriptions, not an independent comparison.

Chevrolet’s acceleration figures and test conditions
In a release published January 13, 2026, Chevrolet reported results from an October 2025 validation run at US 131 Motorsports Park. On a prepped surface, the car covered the quarter-mile in 8.675 seconds at 159 mph and reached 60 mph in 1.68 seconds. Chevrolet says the test used pump gas, a production 50-state street-legal calibration, standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and available carbon-fiber wheels. The company also says the test car made multiple back-to-back quarter-mile runs under 8.8 seconds.

Chevrolet separately reported 8.99 seconds for the quarter-mile and 1.89 seconds to 60 mph for a ZTK-equipped car on an unprepped surface. Because the surface and configuration differ, those figures should not be blended with the prepped-surface results or treated as a direct repeat of the same test. Chevrolet said ZR1X production began in December 2025.

| 2026 ZR1X configuration | Chevrolet-listed MSRP, including destination (August 2025) |
|---|---|
| 1LZ coupe | $207,395 |
| 1LZ convertible | $217,395 |
| 3LZ coupe | $218,395 |
| 3LZ convertible | $228,395 |
A later Chevrolet AWD/4WD overview, published September 16, 2026, lists the 2026 ZR1X at $227,500 including destination freight charge, but the surfaced overview does not provide trim-level context. That listing and the earlier detailed trim prices are different published figures; neither should be silently substituted for the other. Chevrolet’s pricing announcement says taxes, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment are additional, and dealers set final prices. An MSRP is not a promise of a particular transaction price.
Does it beat Ferrari and McLaren in the showroom?
Chevrolet’s August 2025 announcement compared its ZR1X pricing with base MSRPs of $3.7 million for the Ferrari F80 and $2.1 million for the McLaren W1. On those manufacturer-published figures, even the ZR1X’s listed 1LZ coupe MSRP of $207,395 is far lower. This is a comparison of listed prices, not proof that all three cars have identical equipment, availability or purchasing terms, and it does not establish what a buyer will ultimately pay.

So the showroom claim has support if it means a lower listed starting MSRP than the two named cars in Chevrolet’s comparison. The track claim needs a narrower reading: Chevrolet reports an impressive Nürburgring lap, but the cited material does not provide a matching Ferrari or McLaren run to support a direct victory.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Review verdict: a distinctive powertrain and strong published numbers
The ZR1X’s case rests on an unusual combination—a twin-turbo V8, front-axle electric drive and all-wheel drive—alongside Chevrolet’s high-output and acceleration claims. Its Nürburgring time and quarter-mile figures are substantial manufacturer-reported results with a named driver or stated test conditions, not independent road-test findings. The pricing comparison is compelling on Chevrolet’s published MSRPs, while the evidence does not support calling the ZR1X a proven track winner over the F80 or W1.
