The 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s published redline is 8,000 rpm. Chevrolet says a ZR1 reached 233 mph with its engine at that redline in sixth gear—but its official specifications do not identify a separate, hidden redline. The “secret” is better understood as how the car’s top-speed run used the engine’s stated limit.
What is the 2026 Corvette ZR1’s redline?
Chevrolet lists an 8,000-rpm redline for the ZR1’s LT7 5.5-liter DOHC V8 on its 2026 Corvette ZR1 specifications page. The same page rates the engine at 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, and lists an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Those figures distinguish the engine’s rated output from its rev limit: peak horsepower arrives below the stated redline. Chevrolet’s published figures do not establish a second or higher “secret” redline.
What gear was the ZR1 in at 233 mph?
In a report published October 15, 2024, Chevrolet said its ZR1 reached 233 mph with the engine at redline in sixth gear. That is the source of the connection between the redline and the top-speed run; it does not mean the engine had a special redline reserved for top speed. See Chevrolet’s account of the 233-mph run.

Chevrolet’s 2026 model page also states a 233-mph top speed, qualified by the available ZTK Performance Package. Keep that model-page claim distinct from the earlier record-run account: they describe different evidence and should not be read as proof that every ZR1 configuration has identical equipment or results.
How was the record-setting ZR1 configured?
Chevrolet described the record-run car as a coupe with a standard chassis and aero package, a standard spoiler with short wicker, carbon-fiber ground effects, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, and aluminum wheels. That is the setup Chevrolet reported for the particular run, not a universal fitment specification for every 2026 ZR1. Tire size and wheel setup should be verified for the individual car rather than inferred from the tire model alone. Chevrolet’s record-run report identifies the configuration.

What does Top Speed mode mean for drivers?
The 2026 Corvette Owner Manual describes Top Speed mode as intended for closed race tracks. The manual says the mode allows maximum speed and turns off StabiliTrak/Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control, while ABS remains fully functional. It also instructs the driver to adjust tire pressures before entering the mode. These are Chevrolet’s operating instructions for track use, not advice to attempt high-speed driving on public roads.
