The 2026 Chevrolet Trax starts at an advertised $21,700 in the U.S. and pairs a five-seat cabin with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat and standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Its main trade-offs are just as important: every U.S. Trax is front-wheel drive, and Chevrolet says it is not rated to tow.
What does the 2026 Chevrolet Trax cost?
Chevrolet lists the 2026 Trax LS at a starting price of $21,700 and the ACTIV at $25,700 on its 2026 Trax overview. Those are advertised starting figures, not local out-the-door quotes. Taxes, destination charges, dealer add-ons, current offers and negotiated price can change what a buyer pays.
Chevrolet lists five U.S. variants: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and ACTIV. The available official page text does not provide a complete, stable trim-by-trim price and equipment matrix, so compare the exact vehicle’s window sticker and Chevrolet’s current build-and-price details before deciding. Styling, display size, convenience equipment and driver-assistance availability are useful comparison points, but equipment should be confirmed for the specific trim and package.
How does the Trax drive, and what fuel does it use?
Chevrolet specifies an ECOTEC 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine rated at 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. The U.S. 2026 Trax is front-wheel drive only; Chevrolet does not offer it with all-wheel drive.

Chevrolet advertises 30 mpg combined as an EPA-estimated figure. Its retrieved overview does not provide a city/highway split, so those figures should not be inferred from the combined estimate. Chevrolet says the engine uses regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum 87 octane and is E85 compatible.
Does the Trax have AWD?
No. Chevrolet identifies the U.S. Trax as front-wheel drive only. Shoppers who require AWD can consider the Chevrolet Trailblazer, which Chevrolet identifies as available with AWD.

How much can a Chevy Trax tow?
Chevrolet’s 2026 Trax FAQ says, “The 2026 Chevy Trax is not rated to tow.” Do not treat it as a vehicle with an established towing capacity.
How many seats are in the Trax, and how much cargo fits?
The Trax seats five and has a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, which lets owners trade rear passenger space for longer or bulkier cargo when needed. Chevrolet states maximum cargo capacity of 54 cubic feet. GM Fleet’s 2026 Trax brochure gives 54.1 cubic feet; the consumer figure is rounded. Actual usefulness depends on the item’s dimensions and how the seats are configured, so measure unusually large loads before relying on fit.

Which safety and driver-assistance features are included?
Chevrolet lists Chevy Safety Assist as standard, with six features:
- Forward collision alert
- Automatic emergency braking
- Front pedestrian braking
- Lane keep assist with lane departure warning
- Following distance indicator
- IntelliBeam automatic high-beam assist
Chevrolet also lists a rear vision camera, rear seat reminder and Teen Driver as standard. Rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change alert with side blind zone alert are listed as available; do not assume they are fitted to every trim.

Driver-assistance systems do not replace attentive driving. Chevrolet warns that visibility, weather and road conditions can affect performance. Consult the 2026 Trax owner manual for operating limitations, and check the vehicle’s build sheet for installed equipment.
What technology is standard, and what is optional?
Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto compatibility are listed as standard. Chevrolet describes an 11-inch center HD touchscreen, wireless charging and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot as available, not universal standard equipment. Confirm the exact configuration on the window sticker rather than assuming a feature shown in advertising is included on an LS or another specific trim.

The Trax’s strongest practical case is straightforward: a relatively low advertised entry price, seating for five, flexible rear-seat folding, and modern wireless phone integration. Its limits are decisive for some buyers: there is no AWD option in the U.S. lineup and no Chevrolet towing rating. If those capabilities are essential, look at another vehicle; if they are not, the Trax merits consideration for ordinary commuting, passengers and everyday cargo.
