Passenger capacity is the first decision
Buick Enclave: three rows for up to seven
Buick lists seating for up to seven in the 2026 Enclave. That third row is the defining difference if you routinely carry more than five people. The Enclave is also the longer vehicle: Buick lists an overall length of 207.6 inches and maximum cargo capacity of 97.5 cubic feet. Lexus RX: a five-seat, two-row SUV
Lexus lists five seats for the 2026 RX. It measures 192.5 inches long with a 112.2-inch wheelbase, according to Lexus USA Newsroom’s 2026 model-year announcement. 2026 starting prices: compare the exact configuration
The Enclave has the lower published entry price, but the base figures do not represent matching drivetrains or equipment. Buick lists the Enclave Preferred FWD at $46,400. Lexus USA Newsroom lists the RX 350 Standard FWD at $52,775 and the RX 350h Standard AWD at $55,075. These are manufacturer prices for the stated configurations; compare the actual trim, drivetrain and included equipment before judging value.

Buick’s published lineup distinguishes its starting MSRP from trim prices and “as shown” amounts, so check the current Enclave pricing page for the selected trim and destination charges. Lexus’s broader 2026 pricing table includes RX 350 and RX 350h trims as well as RX 450h+ versions; the listed Lexus figures include delivery/processing/handling, but dealer charges and local offers can still affect the amount paid. Fuel economy and powertrains favor different priorities
Enclave: one gasoline powertrain with front- or all-wheel drive
The Enclave uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and is offered with FWD or AWD. In the U.S. Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency’s 2026 Fuel Economy Guide, the Enclave FWD is rated at 20 mpg city, 25 highway and 22 combined. Buick lists 19/24 mpg city/highway for Enclave AWD. The sources do not establish an AWD combined figure here, so it should not be inferred. RX: gasoline, hybrid, plug-in and performance-oriented hybrid options
The RX lineup includes the gasoline RX 350, hybrid RX 350h, plug-in hybrid RX 450h+, and performance-oriented hybrid RX 500h. The 2026 Fuel Economy Guide rates the RX 350h AWD at 37 mpg city, 34 highway and 36 combined. That is a specific AWD hybrid rating; do not treat it as the rating for every RX. For buyers considering a plug-in, Lexus estimates the RX 450h+ at 85 MPGe combined and 38 miles of electric driving range. Lexus says its standard charging cable works with 120V and 240V outlets. The electric-range and MPGe figures are manufacturer estimates, not guarantees; a plug-in’s usefulness depends in part on having a practical place and routine for charging. Towing: the Enclave has a published rating
Buick says the 2026 Enclave can tow up to 5,000 pounds with its standard Trailering Package. The maximum is not a blanket safe load for every trip: trailer weight, passengers, cargo and the vehicle’s specific owner’s manual all matter. Buick Enclave towing and specifications
The consulted 2026 RX source does not establish a towing capacity. That means its rating is unverified here—not that the RX cannot tow. If towing is central to the purchase, verify the exact RX configuration’s official rating and requirements before comparing it with Buick’s published maximum.

Driver-assistance equipment is not a safety ranking
Lexus says Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard on every 2026 RX. Buick describes a suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies for the Enclave and offers Super Cruise for compatible roads. Availability and included functions can differ by vehicle and configuration; check the manufacturers’ current equipment details for the exact trim. Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Enclave if you regularly carry six or seven people, need three rows, or want a published maximum towing figure of up to 5,000 pounds with the Trailering Package.
- Choose the RX 350h if five seats are enough and the cited 36-mpg combined rating for the AWD hybrid suits your priorities.
- Consider the RX 450h+ if plug-in operation fits your charging routine and you value its manufacturer-estimated 38-mile electric range.
- Compare trim by trim if entry price is the deciding factor: the starting MSRP comparison is between an Enclave Preferred FWD and RX 350 Standard FWD, while the RX 350h starting configuration is AWD.
There is no evidence here to name a winner for ride comfort, reliability, maintenance costs, insurance, resale value or independent crash-test performance. For this comparison, the strongest evidence-based distinction is practical: the Enclave prioritizes passenger capacity and documented towing; the RX offers a five-seat layout with more electrified powertrain choices.
