The 2026 Aston Martin DBX S is a new, more powerful flagship in the DBX range, but the available first-drive material does not establish that it redefines the performance-SUV class. Aston Martin claims 727 PS, 900 Nm, a 3.3-second 0–100 km/h time and a 310 km/h top speed; those are factory figures, not independently verified test results.
What the DBX S is—and what this first drive can establish
Aston Martin announced the DBX S on 30 April 2025 as a new flagship for its SUV range. The company describes the “S” suffix as marking a special, high-performance version of an existing model. That is Aston Martin’s positioning, rather than independent evidence that the DBX S changes the competitive class.
Kelley Blue Book published a video titled “2026 Aston Martin DBX S | First Drive” on 6 October 2025. Its listed sections cover driving impressions, handling and braking, among other topics, but the available material does not provide the detailed findings. It therefore cannot support a reliable account of the vehicle’s ride, steering, braking feel, comfort or real-world usability.
Powertrain and performance: manufacturer figures
The DBX S pairs an upgraded 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with a modified nine-speed wet-clutch automatic transmission. Aston Martin says the turbocharger technology was transferred from its forthcoming Valhalla supercar. The official output and performance specifications are ambitious, but should be read as claims from the manufacturer rather than independent measurements.

All-wheel drive and weight-saving options
Aston Martin describes the DBX S as having active all-wheel drive that varies torque distribution and can direct up to 100 per cent of torque to the rear wheels. That is a stated system capability; it does not mean the vehicle operates as rear-wheel drive in normal use.

Two factory lightweight options are highlighted: a carbon-fibre roof and 23-inch magnesium wheels. Aston Martin says the lightweight options can reduce weight by up to 47 kg compared with the DBX707. The figure is the company’s maximum claimed reduction with those options, not a universal weight difference between every DBX S and DBX707 configuration.
Does it redefine the performance-SUV class?
The evidence supports calling the DBX S a high-output flagship with striking claimed performance and available weight-saving equipment. It does not support a class-wide verdict: no head-to-head test against rival SUVs or independently verified performance comparison is established here. Nor does the available Kelley Blue Book first-drive material disclose enough detail to turn its listed handling and braking sections into specific road-test conclusions.

For shoppers, the practical distinction is between the manufacturer’s specification case and a substantiated independent assessment. The official figures explain what Aston Martin says the DBX S can do; they do not by themselves show how it rides, stops, behaves on a road or compares in use with competing SUVs.
