The 2025 Toyota Prius is a conventional hybrid offered in four grades—LE, XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited—with front-wheel drive (FWD) or available all-wheel drive (AWD). Toyota lists base MSRPs from $28,350 for the LE FWD to $36,765 for the Limited AWD. Its estimated fuel economy depends on grade and drivetrain, topping out at 57 mpg combined for the LE FWD. These are Toyota’s published figures, not current dealer quotes or guarantees of real-world mileage.
2025 Prius prices and fuel economy by configuration
Toyota’s model listing pairs each grade and drivetrain with a base MSRP and estimated city/highway fuel economy. The figures below are Toyota’s published U.S.-market estimates; the January 7, 2025 announcement specifies that the starting MSRP excludes Dealer Processing and Handling.

Powertrain, mpg, and AWD
Toyota says the 2025 Prius uses a fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System with a 2.0-liter engine. Toyota rates FWD models at 194 net-combined horsepower and AWD models at up to 196 net-combined horsepower. The listed fuel economy is configuration-specific: the LE FWD is rated at 57 mpg city and 56 highway, while the LE AWD is rated at 53 city and 54 highway. XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited estimates are 52/52 with FWD and 49/50 with AWD. Toyota also describes the lineup as reaching an EPA-estimated 57 mpg combined. These are manufacturer-published estimates, not a promise of results in every driving condition.

Toyota describes AWD as electronic on-demand: rear electric drive supplies power when the system senses slipping, then power returns to the front wheels when additional traction is unnecessary. This describes the system’s operation, not an independent winter-performance test.
Which 2025 Prius grade fits your priorities?
LE: prioritize the lowest listed price and top mpg estimate
The LE is the entry grade. Its FWD configuration has the lineup’s lowest base MSRP and Toyota’s highest listed configuration-specific fuel-economy estimates. Choose the LE AWD if you want Toyota’s on-demand AWD system, while accounting for its higher base price and lower listed mpg than the LE FWD.
XLE: move up from LE
The XLE is the next grade above LE, with FWD and AWD choices. Toyota’s published figures put both XLE configurations at lower estimated fuel economy than the corresponding LE drivetrains. Consult Toyota’s 2025 grade documentation or the exact vehicle listing to confirm the equipment on the car you are considering.

Nightshade Edition: choose the distinctive blacked-out details
Toyota says Nightshade Edition is based on XLE and adds 19-inch black-finished alloy wheels, black exterior badging, a black shark-fin antenna, black front door handles, black bumper trim, and an exclusive Karashi exterior color. It is available with FWD or AWD. Its listed base prices and mpg estimates appear in the table above.
Limited: choose the top grade
Limited is the highest of the four grades in Toyota’s listed base-price range and is available with FWD or AWD. The model page describes a 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia screen, but Toyota’s announcement lists an 8-inch touchscreen as standard equipment across all grades. Check the specific grade walk or vehicle listing before treating screen size or another convenience feature as standard on a particular car.
Standard technology and safety
Toyota’s January 2025 announcement lists an 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 among equipment standard across the grades. Toyota’s 2025 model page also describes a 12.3-inch multimedia screen, so confirm screen size against the exact grade and vehicle listing rather than assuming that larger display is standard throughout the lineup.

- Automatic High Beams

- Lane Tracing Assist
Toyota cautions that feature availability may vary by vehicle or trim. Driver-assistance systems do not replace attentive driving.

Toyota’s Prius brochure states up to 23.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity and lists 60/40 split-folding rear seats. The “up to” figure should not be read as a guarantee that every grade or configuration has identical usable space.

How to compare Prius listings
- Match the grade and drivetrain. Compare like with like: LE, XLE, Nightshade Edition, or Limited, then FWD or AWD.
- Use the configuration-specific figures. Compare the Toyota base MSRP and city/highway estimate in the table rather than relying on a single lineup-wide price or mpg figure.
- Verify equipment on the actual vehicle. Screen size and other convenience details can differ by grade or vehicle; check Toyota’s grade documentation and the listing’s equipment.
- Get a local quote. Ask a dealer for the vehicle’s current price, availability, charges, and final out-the-door total.
