Tesla’s refreshed 2025 Model Y was reported to have entered production at its Grünheide factory in Germany in January 2025. Separately, Tesla’s worldwide 2024 vehicle deliveries exceeded Audi’s: Tesla reported 1,789,226 deliveries, compared with Audi’s 1,671,218. The comparison is for 2024, not a claim about which company leads today.
Where and when did production of the refreshed Model Y begin?
Contemporary reporting by Die Presse said production of the refreshed Model Y began at Tesla’s Grünheide factory in Germany in January 2025. This is a reported production start, rather than a date confirmed here by a Tesla announcement. “Juniper” is a commonly used press nickname for the refresh; the evidence does not establish it as an official retail model designation.
Did Tesla deliver more vehicles than Audi in 2024?
Yes. For calendar year 2024, Tesla reported 1,789,226 vehicle deliveries worldwide, while Audi reported 1,671,218 worldwide vehicle deliveries. Tesla’s total was higher by 118,008. Both figures are the companies’ reported deliveries, not a harmonized measure of retail sales.

What does the Model 3/Y comparison mean?
Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y together accounted for 1,704,093 of its 2024 deliveries. That combined two-model figure was 32,875 above Audi’s entire brand total, a comparison noted by Motor1. It is not a Model Y-only result: the Tesla number includes both the Model 3 and Model Y, while Audi’s number covers its brand total.

Does the 2024 comparison describe the companies’ current position?
No. The headline comparison concerns 2024 deliveries. For 2025, Tesla reported 1,585,279 Model 3/Y deliveries in its filing, while Audi reported more than 1.6 million total vehicle deliveries. Those later figures use different scopes, so they do not establish a direct all-model Tesla-versus-Audi ranking on the same basis.
