Ram had previously said cooling was a focus of final performance testing, but its reveal did not say the grilles were enlarged because of cooling. The trucks also bring a new high-output Cummins diesel, updated towing technology and manufacturer-claimed capability figures that depend on configuration.
Did Ram make the grille bigger for cooling?
Ram’s announcements establish two separate facts, not a direct cause-and-effect link. In a September 24, 2024 pre-reveal note, the company said its engineering teams were completing performance testing, “especially on cooling.” The January 2025 reveal later described updated, trim-specific grilles. It did not give grille dimensions or state that a larger grille was added to improve cooling.
So cooling was a stated testing priority, but Ram’s published material does not confirm that cooling explains the grille design. The September note is available from Stellantis Media; the grille description appears in Ram’s January 7, 2025 reveal.
What changed on the 2025 Ram 2500 and 3500?
The 2025 lineup includes Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn and Limited trims. Ram says each trim has a distinctive updated grille. The reveal also calls out updated wheels, standard LED headlamps and taillamps, and available premium twin bi-functional projector LED headlamps. RamBox bed storage is available; equipment varies by trim and options.

Inside, announced technology includes an available 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, an available 10.25-inch passenger display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other highlighted features include an available digital rearview mirror, trailer camera views, trailer reverse steering control and an onboard inverter rated up to 2.4 kW through two bed outlets. Check the specific trim and package when comparing equipment: the reveal does not make every highlighted feature standard across the range.
Which engines are available, and what are their ratings?

Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis said in the reveal that more than 70% of Ram heavy-duty customers choose diesel; that is Ram’s stated customer figure, not an independent market measurement. How much can the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty tow or carry?
Ram announced maximums of up to 36,610 pounds of towing for diesel configurations and up to 7,590 pounds of payload for gas configurations. These are configuration-dependent maxima, not ratings for every 2500 or 3500. For the Ram 3500, Ram lists a maximum trailer rating of 36,610 pounds with a gooseneck hitch and 23,000 pounds with a conventional hitch.
Match the rating to the exact truck, engine, hitch and equipment before choosing a trailer or calculating payload. A truck’s advertised maximum does not establish the capacity of a particular vehicle; use its own ratings and documentation.

What does Ram claim about acceleration?
Ram says the 2025 Ram 2500 diesel can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds, compared with 8.0 seconds for the 2024 model. Those are manufacturer-reported figures, not results from an independent test, and the announcement does not establish how the trucks would compare in other driving conditions.
