Yes. Ram’s 2025 Heavy Duty lineup covered by its official guide includes a 6.4L HEMI V8, alongside a 6.7L Cummins High-Output diesel paired with a new TorqueFlite HD 8-speed automatic. The HEMI is rated at 405 hp and 429 lb-ft; the High-Output Cummins is rated at 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft. Those are manufacturer specifications—not a promise that every 2025 Ram HD has the same equipment or towing capacity.
What is new—and what is not
The HEMI has not disappeared from the 2025 Ram HD powertrain lineup in Ram’s 2025 Heavy Duty Payload & Towing Weight Capacities guide. The listed gasoline V8 is a 6.4L HEMI with Fuel Saver Technology and an 8HP75-LCV 8-speed automatic.
The “new Cummins” description needs a narrower reading: Cummins diesels are not new to Ram HD trucks. The change highlighted in the guide is the 6.7L Cummins I6 High-Output configuration and its exclusive pairing with the all-new TorqueFlite HD 8-speed automatic. Ram says this High-Output version raises horsepower by 60 on the 2500 diesel and raises horsepower by 60 and torque by 225 lb-ft on the 3500 diesel compared with the respective standard-output versions. The cited passage does not give a complete standard-output specification table.

These are Ram’s manufacturer specifications for the 2025 model year. The TorqueFlite HD pairing is exclusive to the High-Output Cummins according to Ram. The guide says the transmission can support second-gear takeoffs when the truck senses a load; it does not make that feature a substitute for choosing the correct truck and trailer setup.

What those outputs mean when choosing a truck
The HEMI is the gasoline V8 option identified in the guide; the Cummins is a diesel six-cylinder. The Cummins High-Output has higher listed horsepower and substantially higher listed torque, but those figures alone do not establish which truck is the better choice for a particular owner. The guide provides no fuel-economy comparison, transaction prices, reliability results, or independent test findings.
For a purchase or towing decision, compare the exact truck’s engine and transmission, then match its cab, bed, drive wheels, axle ratio, rear-wheel setup and GVWR to the job. Do not assume that an output figure or a model name determines a truck’s capacity.

Maximum towing is configuration-specific
Ram’s highest listed maximum trailer weight in the 2025 guide is 36,610 lb, for a particular Ram 3500 diesel dual-rear-wheel (DRW) configuration when properly equipped. It is not the rating for every Ram 3500, every Cummins truck, or every version of that truck. The guide’s tables show different values according to configuration, including 2500 versus 3500, 4×2 versus 4×4, cab and bed, rear-wheel setup, axle ratio and GVWR. Use the row that matches the truck being considered.
Ram’s accompanying towing and payload limitations are essential to interpreting the table: figures apply “When properly equipped”; weights are in pounds and rounded to the nearest 10 lb; and trailer weight and payload rating are mutually exclusive. Ram also says GAWR, GVWR and GCWR should never be exceeded.

Hitch, payload and axle limits still govern
Ram states that a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch is required for trailers over 18,000 lb. That threshold does not mean a truck can tow any trailer below it, nor does a high maximum trailer-weight figure establish adequate payload or tongue-weight capacity. Trailer tongue weight counts against the truck’s available payload and must remain within the vehicle and hitch recommendations as well as applicable axle and gross-weight ratings.
Ram lists an available towing-prep package with factory provisions for fifth-wheel or gooseneck mounts, additional bed wiring and optional camera equipment. The package is preparation for towing equipment, not proof that any aftermarket hitch fits every truck. Confirm the specific truck’s prep configuration and the hitch maker’s fitment and ratings before buying or towing.
