The 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE pairs a front-mounted 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a rear electric drive unit. Mercedes-Benz announced it on April 20, 2024, as the flagship of the AMG GT Coupe portfolio, with U.S. dealership arrival expected in late 2024. The company quoted 805 hp of combined output and a 2.7-second estimated 0–60 mph time; both are manufacturer figures, not independent test results.
How much horsepower and torque does it have?
Mercedes-Benz lists 805 hp of combined system output: 603 hp from the 4.0-liter V8 and 201 hp from the electric motor. The company also quotes combined system torque of 1,047 lb-ft, but specifies that this is a calculated theoretical value used for comparison purposes—not a direct independent measurement.
How fast is the 2025 AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE?
Mercedes-Benz estimates 0–60 mph in 2.7 seconds and lists a 199-mph electronically limited top speed. The 0–60 figure is an estimate in the company’s launch specifications, not an independently measured result. In its April 20, 2024 announcement, Mercedes-Benz USA CEO Dimitris Psillakis said, “From zero to 60 in 2.7 seconds – no AMG series model has ever sprinted that fast before.” That is a launch claim from the company, rather than a third-party comparison.
How does its plug-in hybrid powertrain work?
V8 at the front, electric drive at the rear
The handcrafted 4.0-liter biturbo V8 is mounted at the front. At the rear, an electric drive unit combines a 201-hp permanently excited synchronous motor, an electrically shifted two-speed transmission and a limited-slip differential. The 6.1-kWh AMG High Performance Battery sits above the rear axle. Mercedes-Benz lists 6.1 kWh of total capacity and 4.8 kWh usable capacity in the launch specifications; its U.S. model page also highlights the 400-volt, 6.1-kWh battery.

How power reaches the road
The electric motor drives the rear axle and can provide propulsion from a standstill, during acceleration and when overtaking. If the rear wheels slip, Mercedes-Benz says power can be sent to the front wheels through the mechanical all-wheel-drive connection in AMG Performance 4MATIC+. This layout combines rear-axle electric drive with the car’s mechanically connected all-wheel-drive system.
