The “600-hp” wording is not the manufacturer’s listed figure: Mercedes-Benz USA specifies 577 hp. The G 63 also has a 48-volt integrated starter generator (ISG). Mercedes says it can provide an additional 20 hp and 148 lb-ft of low-speed support, but those assistance figures should not be added to the guide’s engine-output figures to create an unlisted combined rating.

What else changed for the 2025 G-Class?
The 2025 update is broader than the powertrain changes. Mercedes-Benz lists MBUX, OFFROAD COCKPIT and a transparent-hood function among the additions to the U.S. G-Class line. The G 63 continues to use LOW RANGE and three differential locks. It also offers AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL, with active hydraulic roll stabilization, as an option.
Mercedes announced the U.S. 2025 G 550 and G 63 for dealership arrival in the second half of 2024. That was launch timing announced in 2024, not confirmation of current availability.

In the March 26, 2024 announcement, Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Head of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Mercedes-Maybach business units, said: “The new G 63 is more AMG than ever before.” That is the manufacturer’s promotional characterization, rather than an independent assessment.
