The 2025 McLaren Artura is a two-seat, rear-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid supercar offered as a Coupe or a new-for-2025 Spider. McLaren lists a combined 700 PS (690 bhp) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) from its twin-turbo V6 and electric motor, with a 7.4 kWh battery. Its published electric-range figures vary by test cycle: McLaren cites up to 21 miles under European WLTP, while Car and Driver reports an 11-mile EPA estimate. US publication-reported prices run from $254,100 for the Coupe to $278,800 for the Spider Performance.
What the 2025 Artura is—and what changed
The Artura pairs a mid-mounted combustion engine with an electric motor and battery rather than treating electrification as a separate economy-car mode. It remains rear-wheel drive and seats two. The 2025 model year brings the Spider body style and a set of mechanical, electrical and driver-assistance updates. Model year does not mean the car was first released in calendar 2025.
McLaren’s specification page describes the Artura as a “next-generation hybrid supercar.” Its listed figures are manufacturer claims, not results from an independent road test.
2025 updates
- Combined output rises by 19 hp to 690 hp, according to Car and Driver. Car and Driver also reports revised adaptive-damper valving, faster damper response enabled by a faster electrical architecture, a retuned exhaust, stiffer powertrain mounts, new aerodynamic ducting for airflow and cooling, and a new standard 15-spoke silver wheel.
- Road-sign recognition and lane-departure warning become standard; blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic detection are optional, according to Car and Driver.
- Autoblog reports updated transmission software with shifts 25% quicker, revised battery management associated with the 21-mile range claim, and updated brakes. Those are secondary-source reports, not figures listed in McLaren’s specification summary.
- Car and Driver says 2023 and 2024 owners are offered a free software update to raise output to 690 hp. Owners should confirm eligibility and whether the update has been installed with an authorized McLaren retailer.
How the plug-in hybrid powertrain works
McLaren lists a 120-degree, 3.0-liter V6 with twin electrically actuated turbochargers and dry-sump lubrication. An axial-flux electric motor assists it, and a refrigerant-cooled 7.4 kWh lithium-ion battery stores electrical energy. Power goes through an eight-speed seamless-shift gearbox with E-reverse; the car is rear-wheel drive.

McLaren’s combined output is 700 PS (690 bhp), with 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque. US editorial sources commonly render the power figure as 690 hp. These are combined-system specifications, not separate V6 output figures.

| Quarter-mile | 10.7 seconds |
| Top speed | 330 km/h (205 mph) |
Car and Driver also publishes editorial estimates for acceleration and performance in its 2025 Spider specifications; those estimates are distinct from McLaren’s claimed figures and should not be read as manufacturer certification.
How far can the Artura drive on electric power?
The answer depends on the market and test cycle. McLaren’s regional specification page lists 33 km (21 miles) of electric range under EU WLTP. Car and Driver reports an 11-mile EPA electric estimate alongside McLaren’s “up to 21 miles” claim, and says final 2025 EPA estimates were not yet available when its page was prepared. WLTP and EPA results come from different regional procedures, so they are not directly interchangeable; neither figure guarantees the distance a particular driver will achieve.

McLaren also lists 108 g/km of CO2 under EU WLTP. That European-cycle figure should not be treated as a US EPA result.
Coupe vs. Spider
The Spider adds open-air driving through a retractable roof; the Coupe has a fixed roof. Car and Driver reports that the Spider’s top folds in 11 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph and notes an optional electrochromic roof panel. These details are specific to the Spider equipment described by that publication.

| Body style | Published US price reference | Roof |
|---|---|---|
| Artura Coupe | $254,100 | Fixed roof |
| Artura Spider Performance | $278,800 | Retractable roof; Car and Driver reports an 11-second operation at speeds up to 31 mph |
The prices are publication-reported US figures, not a current dealer quote. Car and Driver reports a wider 2025 MSRP range of $254,100–$278,800; options, taxes, destination charges and later price changes can affect the actual transaction. No controlled Coupe-versus-Spider comparison is established here, so the figures do not support a claim about a precise driving-performance difference between the bodies.
