The 2025 Lexus LX 700h adds a hybrid powertrain to Lexus’s full-size luxury SUV while retaining the low-range four-wheel-drive hardware central to its off-road identity. Lexus lists 457 horsepower, 583 lb-ft of torque and an EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined for the U.S. model. Its October 2024 launch announcement set a starting MSRP of $106,850, including delivery, processing and handling; the $141,350 top price referenced in the original headline could not be verified from readable Lexus pricing information.
What changed for the 2025 Lexus LX 700h?
The LX 700h is the first hybrid in the flagship LX line. It combines a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 with a nickel-metal-hydride battery and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Lexus’s February 2025 production and arrival update lists 457 hp, 583 lb-ft of torque and an EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined. The October 2024 announcement had described fuel economy as tentative; the later release gives the estimate without that qualifier. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
The broader 2025 LX lineup includes Premium, F SPORT Handling, Luxury, Ultra Luxury and Overtrail. Overtrail is new and exclusive to the LX 700h, with two- or three-row seating. Lexus says the lineup is assembled at Toyota Auto Body Yoshiwara.
How much does the 2025 Lexus LX 700h cost?
Lexus’s October 10, 2024 U.S. launch release lists a starting MSRP of $106,850, including delivery, processing and handling. Its February 5, 2025 update refers to a pricing chart and says the chart includes a $1,350 delivery, processing and handling fee, but the chart’s prices are not available in readable source text here. The $141,350 figure in the original headline, and the grade or configuration it would apply to, therefore remain unverified. Do not treat it as a confirmed Lexus-listed price.

How does the LX 700h compare with the LX 600?
The main difference is the powertrain and its published output. Lexus lists the LX 600’s twin-turbo V6 at 409 hp and 479 lb-ft, compared with 457 hp and 583 lb-ft for the LX 700h hybrid. Lexus lists towing capacity of up to 8,000 lb for both models, so the hybrid’s higher output does not mean a higher published maximum tow rating.

Does the hybrid keep the LX’s off-road hardware?
Lexus says the LX 700h retains full-time four-wheel drive, a low-range transfer case and a torque-converter-equipped automatic transmission. The hybrid system uses a motor generator and a clutch between the V6 and 10-speed automatic, according to Toyota Motor Corporation’s description. Lexus says motor-driven power remains available in low range, enabling motor-only movement when precise throttle control is useful.

Lexus also describes an alternator and starter as standard components in the hybrid system, allowing engine-only operation if the hybrid system becomes inoperative. That is the manufacturer’s explanation of the design; it is not independent evidence of reliability or a guarantee of continued operation in every failure condition.
The battery location depends on seating layout: it sits beneath the luggage compartment in two-row versions and beneath the third-row seat in three-row versions. Lexus says the battery is enclosed in a waterproof tray and gives a water-fording capability of 27.5 inches. This depth is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified test result.

What comes with the LX 700h Overtrail?
Overtrail is the LX 700h grade aimed most directly at off-road use. Lexus says the standard LX has a Torsen limited-slip locking center differential; Overtrail adds electronically controlled front and rear locking differentials. Its listed equipment includes:
- 33-inch all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels
- Front skid plate
- 2,400-watt AC inverter
- Off-road all-weather floor liners
- Two- or three-row seating configurations
The locking differentials and tires distinguish Overtrail’s hardware from the broader LX setup. Lexus’s feature list does not, by itself, establish how the vehicle performs on a particular trail or under specific conditions.

What Lexus says it set out to preserve
Takami Yokoo, Lexus International Chief Engineer, said: “During development, we were determined in our commitment not to compromise the reliability, durability, and off-road performance that has defined previous LX models, even with electrification.” This describes the engineering team’s stated objective; it should not be read as independent validation of reliability or durability. Toyota Motor Corporation’s October 10, 2024 announcement also provides technical context for the hybrid system.
