The 2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is a 998 cc liter-class supersport with manufacturer-claimed output of 196.0 hp at 11,500 rpm and a broad electronic and chassis package. Kawasaki’s U.S. page, accessed October 7, 2026, listed it at $16,999 before destination for the non-ABS version and $17,999 for ABS. Those figures describe specifications and pricing—not independent road-test performance.
What the 2025 ZX-10R offers
Kawasaki lists a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 16-valve inline-four engine displacing 998 cc, paired with a six-speed transmission and sealed-chain final drive. Bore and stroke are 76.0 by 55.0 mm, and the compression ratio is 13.0:1.
The headline numbers are Kawasaki claims: 196.0 hp at 11,500 rpm and 83.9 lb-ft of torque at 11,300 rpm. Kawasaki says horsepower is measured using ISO 4106, which is a different basis from SAE standards commonly used for cars. The figures should not be treated as equivalent to an SAE-rated car horsepower figure or as independent dyno results. Kawasaki’s 2025 specification sheet provides the engine and measurement details.

Standard ZX-10R or KRT Edition?
Kawasaki describes the 2025 KRT Edition as having Kawasaki Racing Team colors and graphics. Its official page lists the same $16,999 non-ABS and $17,999 ABS base MSRP tiers as the standard model. The available product information establishes the livery distinction but does not establish a mechanical difference, so do not assume the graphics add performance equipment. Kawasaki’s KRT Edition page describes its colors and pricing.
How to judge its performance—and what is not established
On paper, the ZX-10R combines substantial claimed output with adjustable premium suspension, Brembo front braking hardware and a wide range of electronic controls. That is an equipment-based assessment, not a road-test verdict. The available figures do not establish acceleration, braking distance, top speed, fuel economy, comfort, heat management or real-world handling. A buyer weighing street use against track use should seek a dated test of the exact model year or evaluate the motorcycle directly, rather than infer those qualities from specifications alone.
