The 2025 Kia K5 launched in the U.S. with a starting MSRP of $26,990 for the LXS and five trim-and-drivetrain configurations. LXS, EX and GT-Line models use a 191-hp 2.5-liter engine; the GT is a 290-hp turbo model, while the GT-Line is the only trim offered with AWD. Kia’s published prices are original suggested retail prices—not current dealer quotes—and the K5’s safety results vary by crash test.
2025 Kia K5 original MSRP by trim
Kia announced these U.S. starting prices on April 12, 2024. The stated prices excluded a $1,155 destination charge, taxes, title, license fees, options and retailer charges. Kia said retailers set actual prices, which may vary.

Kia lists 37 mpg estimated highway fuel economy for the LXS. This is an EPA estimate; actual mileage varies with equipment, driving conditions, driving habits and vehicle condition.

GT-Line vs. GT: AWD, power and purpose
The similar names mask a substantial mechanical difference. The GT-Line uses the 191-hp naturally aspirated engine and is the only K5 trim offered with AWD; it is also available with front-wheel drive. The GT is front-wheel drive only and pairs its 290-hp turbo engine with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Choose between them based on whether AWD availability or the GT’s higher-output powertrain matters more; the GT-Line AWD had a $29,590 launch MSRP, compared with $33,090 for the GT FWD.
What equipment does the 2025 K5 include?
Kia highlighted updated interior and exterior design for 2025, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch touchscreen navigation unit, and an available curved display combining the instrument screen and touchscreen. The company also described expanded standard driver-assistance technology. Exact equipment depends on trim and package, so verify the window sticker for the specific car rather than assuming every pictured feature is standard.

EX comfort and technology highlights
Kia’s April 2024 announcement lists Bose premium audio, a 10-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, Digital Key 2.0, a heated steering wheel and power-folding mirrors as standard on the EX. Kia notes that some connected features or updates may require a subscription or incur additional cost.
2025 Kia K5 safety ratings: test years matter
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) reports mixed results rather than one all-purpose crash rating. Its small-overlap front rating is Good, its updated moderate-overlap front rating is Poor, and its updated side rating is Marginal. Seat-belt reminders and LATCH ease of use are rated Acceptable.

The Poor moderate-overlap result reflects weaker injury measures for rear passengers than for the driver, according to IIHS. These ratings do not mean that every test was conducted on a 2025 car: the institute specifies the test vehicle year and the model years to which each result applies.
IIHS lists blind-spot detection, lane-departure warning and prevention, and rear automatic braking among other available safety features. Availability can vary by trim and equipment; check the exact vehicle’s equipment list.
