Hyundai’s U.S. announcement lists the Standard Range pack increasing from 58.0 to 63.0 kWh and the Long Range pack from 77.4 to 84 kWh; the port lets the car use compatible Tesla Superchargers without an adapter. This is separate from Hyundai’s 2026 India refresh, which also has an 84.0 kWh battery but does not establish that the Indian model has a native NACS port.
What changed on the North American 2025 IONIQ 5?
Hyundai Motor America announced the U.S. 2025 refresh on September 3, 2024. The update combines larger battery capacities with a factory-installed NACS charging port. It also adds the XRT trim and shifts production to Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Georgia, according to Hyundai’s announcement.

These are battery-capacity figures in Hyundai Motor America’s 2024 release, not a statement that every trim has the same range or usable capacity.
Range figures: targets, not EPA ratings
Hyundai’s September 2024 release described its U.S. range numbers as targets: 310+ miles for rear-wheel-drive SE, SEL and Limited trims, and 240+ miles for the SE Standard Range. The release says all-wheel-drive range varies by trim and wheel-and-tire size. Those figures should not be presented as EPA ratings; the announcement labels them as targets.

What does the Tesla-style port do?
“Tesla-style” refers to the North American Charging Standard, or NACS. The 2025 U.S. IONIQ 5 has a native NACS port, so it can connect to compatible Tesla Superchargers without a separate NACS adapter. Hyundai’s launch announcement said the car could access more than 17,000 Tesla Superchargers without an adapter at that time. That is a figure from the 2024 announcement, not a current station count; check the Tesla or Hyundai app for station availability and vehicle compatibility.
Hyundai’s broader adoption announcement set a different timeline: refreshed or all-new U.S. Hyundai EVs would begin adopting NACS in Q4 2024, with Canada following in the first half of 2025. It cited more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the U.S., Canada and Mexico when published. The 12,000-plus and 17,000-plus figures reflect different announcements and dates, rather than a live count of the network.

Which adapter does an IONIQ 5 need?
Adapter direction depends on the port fitted to the car. A 2025 IONIQ 5 with native NACS needs a CCS adapter to use compatible CCS charging stations. An older CCS-equipped Hyundai needs a different adapter to connect to eligible Tesla Superchargers. The adapters serve opposite connections and are not interchangeable.

Before charging, identify the car’s model year and port, then verify that the specific station is eligible for that vehicle in the relevant app. Hyundai advises using CSA- or UL-certified adapters and says damage caused by non-Hyundai accessories is not covered by its warranty. How fast can the 2025 IONIQ 5 charge at a Tesla Supercharger?
Hyundai’s owner FAQ lists a maximum rate of 125 kW for the 2025 IONIQ 5 at Tesla Superchargers, with compatibility on V3 and V4 equipment under the conditions detailed in the FAQ. This is Hyundai’s listed figure as retrieved October 8, 2026, not a guaranteed rate. Actual charging speed can vary with the charger’s output, battery temperature, preconditioning and other conditions.
How is the 2026 India refresh different?
Hyundai Motor India announced a separate IONIQ 5 refresh on April 28, 2026. Its release specifies an 84.0 kWh battery and up to 690 km of ARAI-certified range. That range figure belongs to the India-market announcement and should not be compared directly with the U.S. release’s target-mile figures, which use a different basis.

The India release also lists a redesigned steering wheel and center fascia, dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, controller over-the-air updates, remote immobilization and additional parking-assistance features. Hyundai announced an ex-showroom price of INR 55,70,000 for India on that date; this is not a current universal quote. The release does not establish that this Indian version has a native NACS port. Details are in Hyundai Motor India’s announcement.

- Compare battery capacity for the same market and version.
- Check whether range is an EPA rating, ARAI-certified figure or manufacturer target.
- Confirm whether the car has a native NACS or CCS port, and which adapter direction applies.
- Verify compatible fast-charging stations and network access for the particular vehicle.
- Compare charging rates only under similar charger, battery-temperature and preconditioning conditions.
