The 2025 Honda CRF300L Rally is a 286cc dual-sport with a larger fuel tank and rally-style bodywork compared with the standard CRF300L. Honda’s U.S. specifications list a 335-pound curb weight, 3.4-gallon capacity, 35.2-inch seat, and ABS at both brakes. Those figures make the Rally’s tradeoffs clear, but they do not establish real-world range, comfort, or handling. Here are 10 useful facts, with U.S. specifications kept separate from Honda’s European figures.
1. It is a 286cc, six-speed dual-sport
For the U.S. 2025 model, American Honda lists a liquid-cooled, 286cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine with double overhead camshafts and four valves. The bore and stroke are 76.0 by 63.0mm, compression is 10.7:1, and fuel is metered by a 38mm throttle body with PGM-FI. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and multiplate wet clutch. Honda’s U.S. specification sheet also lists electric starting and a #520 O-ring-sealed chain.

2. The Rally’s extra fuel capacity is a key distinction
Honda lists the U.S. Rally’s fuel capacity at 3.4 gallons, compared with 2.1 gallons for the 2025 standard CRF300L. That is a meaningful capacity difference, but tank size alone cannot tell you how far either bike will travel: no verified fuel-economy figure is established here. Treat range as dependent on actual consumption and riding conditions, not a calculation from capacity alone. Honda’s standard-model U.S. specifications list the 2.1-gallon figure.

Honda lists the Rally at 335 pounds curb weight and defines that figure as including standard equipment, required fluids, and a full tank. The standard CRF300L is listed at 311 pounds under Honda’s U.S. specifications. These are manufacturer-published figures, not independent scale measurements; the Rally’s listed difference is 24 pounds. Whether that extra mass matters most depends on your priorities and where you ride.

4. The Rally sits slightly taller, with slightly less clearance
Honda lists the Rally’s seat height at 35.2 inches and ground clearance at 10.9 inches. The standard CRF300L is listed at a 34.7-inch seat and 11.2 inches of clearance. So the Rally is half an inch taller at the seat while its stated ground clearance is 0.3 inch lower. These dimensions are useful for comparing published fit and clearance, but they cannot establish how the bike will feel to a particular rider.
5. Suspension travel is 10.2 inches at both ends
The U.S. Rally specification lists a 43mm inverted front fork and a Pro-Link single rear shock, each with 10.2 inches of travel. Honda also lists the standard-height CRF300L with 10.2 inches of travel at both ends. Travel figures describe suspension movement; by themselves, they do not establish ride quality or performance on a particular surface.

6. Its brakes include ABS at both wheels
Honda specifies a 296mm front disc with a twin-piston caliper and a 220mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper, with ABS at both brakes on the U.S. Rally. The standard CRF300L’s published front disc is 256mm. The figures distinguish the hardware; they are not a comparative braking test.

The Rally uses an 80/100-21 front tire and a 120/80-18 rear tire. Honda lists a 57.2-inch wheelbase, 27.5-degree rake, and 4.3-inch trail for the U.S. model. Those are specification-sheet dimensions, not a substitute for a riding evaluation.

8. Honda describes specific updates, but that is a manufacturer claim
Honda says the Rally’s development brought improved power, a larger tank, and better on- and off-road handling, citing a nine-pound weight reduction, updated geometry, and upgraded suspension. That wording comes from Honda’s own 2025 features description; it should not be read as an independent comparative test. The U.S. specification sheet separately lists the finished Rally at 335 pounds curb weight.
9. European figures use different units and market context
Honda Motor Europe’s 25YM press kit lists a 12.8-litre tank and 153kg kerb weight, and describes revised damping rates, two-channel ABS, an asymmetric dual LED headlight, and compact LED indicators. Those are European-market materials, not a replacement for the U.S. figures. Honda’s U.S. release uses gallons and pounds; preserve the market and units when comparing specifications rather than treating press-kit numbers as one universal specification. Honda Europe’s 25YM press kit is dated November 5, 2024.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.10. Whether it is the better CRF300L depends on what you value
The Rally offers more listed fuel capacity and a larger front disc, while the standard CRF300L is lighter, has a slightly lower seat, and is listed with slightly more ground clearance. Both share the 286cc engine, six-speed transmission, and 21-inch front/18-inch rear tire sizing. Honda’s 2025 U.S. specifications support those comparisons, but they do not establish which model handles better, feels more comfortable, or suits a given rider best.

What the published information does—and does not—tell you
The available official U.S. specifications establish the model’s listed hardware and dimensions, not tested fuel economy, real-world range, independent performance, current U.S. MSRP, or dealer inventory. Honda’s feature claims describe the company’s stated development goals; they do not answer how the Rally compares in a rider’s hands. For a purchase decision, use the dimensions and equipment to identify the tradeoffs that matter to you, then confirm current model details with Honda or a dealer.
