How the engines compare
Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide: Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121
Harley-Davidson lists the 2025 CVO Road Glide’s 121-cu-in Milwaukee-Eight VVT V-twin at 115 hp and 139 ft-lb of torque. That gives it the highest listed torque among the engines in this comparison, but output figures alone do not establish acceleration, throttle response or how the motorcycle feels on the road.
Indian Challenger: check whether it has the 108 or 112
“Challenger” covers more than one engine configuration in Indian’s 2025 U.S. range. The standard model’s 108-cu-in liquid-cooled PowerPlus is listed at 122 hp and 128 ft-lb. Indian lists the 112-cu-in engine on Dark Horse/Limited variants at 126 hp and 133 ft-lb. In the published figures, the 112 has more horsepower than the Harley’s 121, while the Harley has more listed torque. The standard 108 is also listed with more horsepower than the Harley but less torque.

These are manufacturer figures for different engines and motorcycles, not a controlled comparison of performance. Indian also says its PowerPlus 112 won the 2024 MotoAmerica King of the Baggers Championship; that is Indian’s claim and does not, by itself, predict the performance of a showroom motorcycle.
Prices: a large starting-MSRP gap, not a trim-equivalent comparison
For model year 2025 in the United States, Harley-Davidson publishes a $45,999 starting MSRP for the CVO Road Glide. Indian’s cited pages publish $26,499 for the standard Challenger and $27,499 for Dark Horse/Limited models. The difference in those starting figures is substantial, but the CVO is a high-spec factory-customized Harley and the listed Challenger prices refer to different trims and equipment. Do not treat the gap as the cost difference between two identically equipped bikes.

Both motorcycles use chassis-mounted fairings: Harley-Davidson identifies the CVO Road Glide’s fixed Sharknose fairing, while Indian describes a chassis-mounted fairing on the Challenger. That shared layout does not establish that their wind protection or comfort will feel the same to a particular rider.

Harley-Davidson lists a 6-gallon tank and 2.2 cu ft of luggage capacity for the CVO Road Glide. Indian lists a 6-gallon tank and describes more than 18 gallons of storage in its Challenger range material. Because the manufacturers may measure or present storage differently, those figures should not be used as a direct capacity test.
Different display sizes and feature lists
The CVO Road Glide has a 12.3-inch display, ride modes and manufacturer-described rider-safety enhancements. Indian lists a 7-inch RIDE COMMAND display for the Challenger, with turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth and selectable modes among its stated features. Check the exact trim and current terms for connected services; some services are listed with one year of free TCU service, and availability or subscription terms may vary.

Rider assistance: compare the exact trim’s equipment
Indian’s detailed specification for the 2025 Challenger Dark Horse with the 112-cu-in engine lists ABS, SmartLean features, blind-spot warning, rear-collision warning lights, Bike Hold Control, electronically linked brakes and a tailgate warning. Do not assume every item appears on every Challenger trim or configuration. The cited Harley-Davidson page describes Rider Safety Enhancements but does not enumerate every feature in the material available here. That is not enough to conclude that one brand has a more comprehensive safety package; compare the equipment lists for the exact motorcycles.

Consider the CVO Road Glide if
- You want the CVO trim’s factory-customized finish and features, including its 12.3-inch display.
- The Harley’s listed 121 engine output and fixed Sharknose styling appeal to you, and the published starting price fits your budget.
Consider an Indian Challenger if
- You want to compare a lower published starting MSRP and are prepared to choose between the standard 108 and 112-cu-in variants.
- You value the features listed for a specific trim, such as the 112 Dark Horse’s stated rider-assistance equipment; confirm those items on the exact build.
Specifications cannot settle seat comfort, riding position, passenger fit, wind protection, control feel, handling or ride quality. Sit on and, if possible, test-ride the exact trim and configuration you are considering. For a meaningful cost comparison, use local quotes and matched equipment rather than the range’s entry MSRPs.
