Chevrolet calls it the first factory-turbocharged Corvette and says the engine is the most powerful V8 ever produced in America by an auto manufacturer—a distinction with Chevrolet’s specific geographic and manufacturer qualification.
How much horsepower does the 2025 Corvette ZR1 have?
Chevrolet rates the ZR1’s 5.5-liter LT7 V8 at 1,064 hp at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, per SAE guidelines. Those are manufacturer ratings, not an independent test result. Chevrolet describes the output as the most power ever from a factory Corvette and the most powerful V8 ever produced in America by an auto manufacturer. Chevrolet’s July 2024 announcement provides the rating and its wording for the distinction.
What engine is in the C8 ZR1?
The C8 ZR1 is powered by the 5.5L LT7, a twin-turbocharged, dual-overhead-cam V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft. Chevrolet says the LT7 shares architecture with the Corvette Z06’s naturally aspirated LT6 and adds twin turbochargers. It is the first factory-turbocharged Corvette, according to the automaker. The 2025 Corvette owner’s manual also identifies the LT7 engine.
How fast is the 2025 Corvette ZR1?
The figures below are Chevrolet claims or reported manufacturer results, not independently verified performance tests. The conditions matter: the 0–60 mph claim is specifically tied to the available ZTK Performance Package, while the top speed is a track result.

| Measure | Chevrolet figure | Context |
|---|---|---|
| 0–60 mph | 2.3 seconds | Chevrolet’s closed-course claim with the available ZTK Performance Package. December 2024 announcement. |
| Quarter mile | 9.6 seconds at 150 mph | Result announced by Chevrolet in 2025. March 2025 announcement. |
| Top speed | 233 mph | Track top speed reported by Chevrolet in October 2024. October 2024 announcement. |
At the July 2024 reveal, Chevrolet had estimated a top speed of more than 215 mph on a racetrack. The later 233-mph figure is the reported track result, rather than that earlier estimate. Chevrolet also says the ZR1’s carbon-fiber aerodynamic package produces more than 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speed. That figure is a manufacturer claim tied to top-speed conditions, not a general downforce rating at every speed. The reveal announcement and the top-speed announcement describe the aero claim.
What makes the ZR1 different from the Z06?
The engine is the clearest distinction established by Chevrolet: the ZR1’s LT7 shares architecture with the Z06’s LT6, but adds twin turbochargers. Chevrolet rates the LT7 at 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft, and identifies the ZR1 as the first factory-turbocharged Corvette. This comparison is limited to the engine relationship and output; it does not imply that the cars share every component or specification.

What changes with the ZTK Performance Package?
For the performance figures covered here, the verified distinction is that Chevrolet states the 2.3-second 0–60 mph claim with the available ZTK package. Chevrolet’s equipment information also associates Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R summer-only tires with ZTK-equipped ZR1 specifications. Chevrolet’s January 2025 equipment and pricing announcement identifies the tire listing. Check the individual car’s order or build data for its exact wheel-and-tire fitment rather than assuming all ZR1s—or every ZTK configuration—use an identical setup.
