Its 30-inch display, available Super Cruise and soft ride are compelling; the turbo-four’s sound under acceleration and reduced third-row legroom and cargo space deserve a close look before buying.
What changed for 2025?
The 2025 Enclave is the third generation of Buick’s flagship SUV, with seating for up to seven. The redesign brings a standard 30-inch diagonal display and a standard 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic. Buick rates the engine at 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. The launch announcement also lists wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and multiple camera views. Buick’s April 9, 2024 launch announcement describes the new model’s design and equipment.
In the U.S., configurations include front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD). Drivetrain availability differs by market: Buick Canada’s launch material says AWD is standard across its trims, so that claim should not be applied to U.S. vehicles.
How does the Enclave drive?
Power and refinement
The engine’s output is substantial on paper, but reviewers noted that it does not sound especially refined when accelerating. James Riswick drove a FWD Avenir and an AWD Sport Touring in Portland, Oregon, for Capital One’s first-drive review; he described the turbo-four as buzzy under acceleration. That is a subjective first-drive impression, not a controlled comparison, and the best way to judge whether the sound bothers you is to drive the vehicle yourself.

Ride, steering and cabin quiet
Riswick found road and wind noise well suppressed, but criticized steering feel and suspension response on uneven and winding roads. Car and Driver’s review, by contrast, characterizes the ride as soft and compliant while saying the SUV lacks driving verve. Those impressions point to an Enclave tuned more for a comfortable family trip than spirited driving. A test drive over the roads you use most can help you assess both ride comfort and steering response.
Is it premium enough?
MotorTrend frames the Enclave as Buick’s effort to sit between mainstream and luxury three-row SUVs, emphasizing its redesign, equipment, infotainment and available Super Cruise. For 2025, the trims are Preferred, Sport Touring and Avenir. The trim lineup gives buyers different equipment and appearance choices without making the top trim an automatic requirement. MotorTrend’s first drive describes the purchase decision as revolving around drivetrain, towing needs and technology options.

Consider whether the version you are pricing provides the comfort and technology you actually want. The standard large display and wireless smartphone integration address everyday convenience; Super Cruise is a separate available feature with important operating and service requirements.
What Super Cruise does—and does not do
Super Cruise is available on properly equipped Enclaves. Buick says it uses cameras, sensors, GPS and LiDAR map data, works with Adaptive Cruise Control and can enable lane changes on equipped vehicles. Buick’s current U.S. page says the 2025 and newer Enclave with available Super Cruise can access more than 600,000 miles of compatible roads across North America. Coverage does not mean the feature works on every road or in every condition. Buick’s Super Cruise page explains current availability and operating requirements.

This is driver assistance, not autonomous driving. The driver must remain attentive and ready to take control. Use also depends on proper vehicle equipment, road and operating conditions, and an eligible active OnStar Super Cruise plan or trial. Check the specific vehicle’s equipment and the applicable plan terms before treating the feature as part of your daily commute.

The Enclave remains a three-row family SUV, but a larger exterior does not mean every interior measurement increased. Capital One’s review notes that third-row legroom and cargo space behind the third row are reduced compared with the outgoing Enclave. Car and Driver lists 23 cubic feet behind the third row and 98 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume for the 2025 model. Those figures describe different seat configurations: the maximum is not available with all rows in use.

If you regularly carry seven people, check third-row access and legroom with the actual passengers who will use those seats. Then test the space behind that row with your usual bags, stroller or sports equipment. A published cargo figure cannot tell you whether a particular load will fit, and comparisons are most useful when they use equivalent measurement methods and model years.
Fuel economy, drivetrain and towing
Car and Driver reports EPA fuel-economy ratings of 20 mpg city, 27 highway and 23 combined for FWD, and 19 city, 24 highway and 21 combined for AWD. Confirm the rating for the exact configuration you are considering, since drivetrain changes the published figures.
The Enclave can be configured for up to 5,000 pounds of trailering capability, but Car and Driver says the optional Trailering package is required. Do not assume every Enclave can tow that amount: verify that the vehicle has the package and check its specific rating and load limits in the vehicle documentation before towing.
Which 2025 Enclave should you consider?
- Preferred: Consider it if the standard display and core family-SUV features meet your needs and you do not want to pay for higher-trim equipment you will not use.
- Sport Touring: Compare it if its appearance and available configuration suit you; the trim name alone does not establish a different ride or engine output.
- Avenir: Evaluate it for the comfort and equipment you value, but decide based on the specific features and price difference rather than assuming the top trim is necessary.
Across trims, verify FWD or AWD availability for your market, the presence of any desired Super Cruise equipment, and the Trailering package if towing matters. These checks are more useful than choosing by trim name alone.
