The 2025 BMW M3 brings revised lighting, wheels, cabin details and software, but the power increase applies to just one version: the M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive. BMW announced that it gains 20 hp, for a total of 523 hp. The manual M3 remains rated at 473 hp, while the rear-wheel-drive M3 Competition is rated at 503 hp.
What’s new for the 2025 BMW M3?
BMW presented the 2025 sedan as a refresh of the existing M3, with styling, equipment and digital updates rather than a change to every model’s power output. The specifications and prices below are BMW’s U.S. figures from its May 2024 announcement, not independent test results or current dealer quotes. BMW Group’s May 2024 announcement describes the changes.
Exterior lighting and wheels
The redesigned LED headlights consolidate the low- and high-beam functions into one module. BMW also announced new forged alloy wheels. M Shadowline lights, with dark inner accents, are an available option.
Steering wheel, trim and dashboard
The newly designed three-spoke M leather steering wheel has a flat-bottomed rim, revised spokes, multifunction buttons and a red 12-o’clock marker. An M Alcantara version in the same design is available separately or within the optional Carbon Package.

Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite is the standard interior trim; M Carbon Fiber and new M Fine Brushed Aluminium are optional. BMW also said the optional Sensatec dashboard has a more refined surface.
Curved Display and software
The BMW Curved Display is paired with BMW Operating System 8.5 and M-specific graphics. BMW’s announcement describes the equipment and software pairing; it does not establish a comparative software-performance result or an independently tested user experience.

Which 2025 BMW M3 gets more power?
Only the M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive receives the announced 20-hp increase. BMW attributes the change to an optimized engine-management configuration. Its stated output is 523 hp at 6,250 rpm, with 479 lb-ft of torque. BMW lists the torque range as 2,750–5,730 rpm and claims a 0–60 mph time of 3.4 seconds; that acceleration figure is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent test result.
The other two U.S. sedan configurations retain their separately listed outputs: 473 hp for the manual M3 and 503 hp for the rear-wheel-drive M3 Competition. Their torque figures, transmissions and BMW-announced base MSRPs are compared below.

BMW listed a $1,175 destination and handling charge in addition to each base MSRP. Those prices were announced in May 2024 and should not be read as current transaction prices.
BMW states that all three variants have a 155-mph electronically limited top speed as standard, increasing to 180 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package.

How to choose among the three configurations
- Choose the M3 if you want the listed 473-hp configuration with a six-speed manual. BMW’s release does not state its drive layout in the specifications cited here.
- Choose the rear-wheel-drive M3 Competition if you want 503 hp, 479 lb-ft and the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission without moving to the M xDrive model.
- Choose the M3 Competition with M xDrive if you want the lineup’s highest listed output and all-wheel drive. BMW also claims a 3.4-second 0–60 mph time for this configuration.
BMW’s announcement provides specifications, not independent comparisons of handling, comfort, reliability or real-world fuel use, so those qualities cannot be ranked from these figures alone.
Announced U.S. pricing and production timing
In its May 2024 announcement, BMW listed base MSRPs of $76,000 for the M3, $80,200 for the M3 Competition and $85,300 for the M3 Competition with M xDrive, each before $1,175 destination and handling. These are announced U.S. prices from that release, not a statement of present inventory or later pricing.

BMW said worldwide production phase-in would begin in July 2024 and that the M3 Sedan would be built at BMW Group Plant Munich. That was the production plan stated in the announcement, not confirmation of current availability.
