The 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed makes a persuasive case for spending extravagantly on a grand tourer—but the available evidence can establish its extraordinary specifications, not whether owning one makes anyone happier. Bentley rates its plug-in hybrid V8 at 771 bhp and claims a 3.1-second 0–60 mph time. A Winding Road Magazine video description lists its featured First Edition at $403,000 as tested. Whether that combination is worth the price depends on what you value; there is no happiness metric hiding in the spec sheet.
What is the 2025 Continental GT Speed?
This is the fourth-generation Continental GT Speed, Bentley’s high-performance grand touring coupe, now powered by a plug-in hybrid system pairing a twin-turbocharged V8 with an electric motor. Bentley describes the car as a blend of “supercar performance, handcrafted luxury and everyday usability”—the company’s positioning, rather than an independent verdict. Bentley’s June 2024 announcement introduced the model as its new definitive grand tourer.
The Speed’s appeal is not just a single acceleration figure. It combines a maker-rated 771 bhp with bespoke cabin details and chassis hardware intended to support both spirited driving and long-distance comfort. The crucial distinction is between what Bentley specifies or claims and what an independent test or firsthand drive has established: the figures below are manufacturer ratings, not instrumented results.
How powerful and fast is the hybrid V8?
Bentley’s US model page lists a 3,996 cc (4.0-liter) twin-turbo V8 and electric motor with 771 bhp of combined system power and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of combined torque. The page separately rates the engine at 591 bhp and 590 lb-ft, and the electric motor at 188 bhp and 332 lb-ft. Those component peak ratings should not be added together to infer system output; the combined ratings are Bentley’s stated figures.

What do the hybrid and fuel-economy figures tell you?
Bentley lists a 25.9 kWh battery. Its US-market model page gives two distinct economy figures: 19.0 mpg combined under WLTP, and 27.4 mpg combined with the battery discharged. These are manufacturer-published figures for different stated conditions—not observed real-world economy, and not interchangeable readings from one drive. The page does not establish an electric driving range or charging time in the material cited here.

For a prospective owner, those numbers alone do not show how often the car would run electrically in everyday use. That depends on factors such as charging access, journey length, route, and driving conditions; no verified range or charging-time figure is available here to quantify that side of the ownership equation.
What is the chassis package intended to do?
Bentley says the Speed includes its Performance Active Chassis package, featuring an electronic limited-slip differential and Bentley Dynamic Ride, a 48-volt electronic anti-roll system. The company says the differential improves rear grip, traction, and stability, while Dynamic Ride is intended to control body roll without sacrificing straight-line ride refinement. These descriptions explain the engineering aims; they do not substitute for measured handling results or a documented ride assessment.

That distinction matters in a test-drive review. The available material includes a POV drive-video reference, but its description alone does not establish how the car rides, sounds, corners, or performs in electric driving. Without independently evaluated footage or a substantiated firsthand account, those qualities should not be presented as observed impressions.
What does the cabin and specification add?
Bentley lists Speed-specific details including embroidered or engraved Speed motifs and 3D diamond hide door panels. The standard Colour Specification and optional Dark Chrome Interior Specification and accent colours also shape the car’s presentation. Equipment and finish availability vary by market, so a particular car’s visible trim should not automatically be treated as standard across the range.

Customization is part of the luxury proposition, but it also complicates price comparisons: a richly specified car can differ substantially from a base configuration. The figures available for one test vehicle illustrate that gap without establishing what every 2025 GT Speed costs.

A Winding Road Magazine POV test-drive video dated September 14, 2024, describes its 2025 Continental GT Speed First Edition PHEV with a $302,100 base price and a $403,000 as-tested price. Those are the video description’s configuration-specific figures for that vehicle. They are not a verified current universal MSRP, a dealer quote, or evidence of negotiated transaction prices.

At that level, “worth it” is personal rather than a conclusion the price tag can settle. The $100,900 difference between the described base and as-tested prices indicates how far that specific configuration sat above its stated base price; it does not identify which options account for the difference or how representative the car is of the range.
Does the Continental GT Speed prove money can buy happiness?
No specification or price can prove that. Bentley’s ratings support a narrower, more defensible conclusion: the GT Speed combines exceptional claimed performance with plug-in hybrid hardware, a performance-focused chassis package, and extensive luxury personalization. Whether those qualities deliver enough enjoyment to justify the cost depends on the buyer’s priorities and experience with the actual car.
The evidence available here does not include an independent instrumented test, a substantiated written ride review, long-term reliability findings, or owner-satisfaction data. So the fairest answer to the title’s question is that the Speed gives a very expensive form of performance and craftsmanship a compelling specification sheet—but happiness, and value, remain subjective.
