Yes—with a few clear compromises. The redesigned 2025 Audi S5 pairs quick acceleration and confident all-wheel-drive handling with a quiet, composed ride and practical liftback body. But its light steering and less dramatic-feeling acceleration keep it from feeling like a hard-edged sports sedan, while its screen-heavy cabin is a matter of taste. The U.S. car’s specifications and test results also differ from those of European first-drive models, so their performance figures should not be compared as if they came from the same version.
What changed for the 2025 Audi S5?
The new-generation S5 is a larger, more mature liftback with a more digitized cabin. In the U.S. model covered by Car and Driver, power comes from a turbocharged V-6 paired with a dual-clutch automatic and standard all-wheel drive. The body combines four-door passenger access with a hatchback-style cargo opening.
Car and Driver describes the cabin as a five-seat layout and reports 15.7 cubic feet of cargo capacity. The publication also says rear-seat and cargo room improve over the outgoing generation. That blend of sedan seating and liftback access is useful for everyday errands and luggage, though the available information does not establish a direct cargo-volume comparison with rival models.
A screen-led cockpit
The U.S. S5 has an 11.9-inch digital instrument display and a 14.5-inch central touchscreen. A 10.9-inch passenger display is optional. The broad screens make the cabin feel thoroughly modern, but drivers who prefer physical controls may find this interface less appealing; the available review material does not establish how every commonly used function is operated while driving.

Car and Driver lists front and rear automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert as standard on the new U.S. S5. Adaptive cruise control is available, rather than standard according to that review’s equipment listing.
How fast is the 2025 Audi S5?
For the U.S.-market car, Car and Driver lists 362 horsepower and recorded a 3.9-second run from 0 to 60 mph in its test. That is a strong result for a luxury sport sedan, though the publication’s driving impressions suggest the power can feel less forceful than the headline output implies. The test time is one publication’s result under its test conditions, not a guaranteed time for every S5.

European first-drive cars are a different reference point. The Drive and MotorTrend describe European versions with a mild-hybrid system, 362 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque; The Drive reports a claimed 0–62-mph time of 4.5 seconds. Those figures describe a European car and a different speed interval, and should not be substituted for the U.S. test result. MotorTrend describes the mild-hybrid motor as assisting at low speeds and during turbo spool-up. The contemporary first-drive articles said the U.S. version was expected to omit that electric motor; Car and Driver’s later U.S. review supplies the U.S. output and test result used here.
A separate official Audi Singapore specification sheet, marked accurate as of December 2024, lists 367 PS (270 kW), 550 Nm and 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds for that market. PS is not the same unit as U.S.-market horsepower, and Singapore equipment and specifications are not U.S. specifications.

Is the 2025 Audi S5 comfortable enough to drive every day?
Reviewers’ impressions point to yes. The Drive found the European car quieter and more comfortable than earlier S5 iterations, and described its steering as light but precise. MotorTrend praised the balance of its chassis and cornering response, including its torque-vectoring all-wheel drive, revised rear limited-slip differential and sport-tuned adaptive suspension. Those are assessments of the European first-drive car, not a controlled comparison with every previous S5 or a guarantee of how every driver will experience it.
The U.S. review evidence supports a similarly balanced picture: the S5 is composed and capable through corners, but the steering is light. That makes the car easiergoing in routine driving, while offering less weight and feedback than drivers seeking a more communicative sports sedan may want. Its acceleration, too, can feel less urgent than its output suggests. The trade-off is a car reviewers portray as polished and approachable rather than demanding or especially dramatic.

What does the U.S. S5 cost, and what do the figures mean?
Car and Driver lists a $63,995 base price and a $73,940 price for its tested configuration. These are source-reported figures for the 2025 model, not a current dealer quote or a promise of present-day availability. The test car’s price included a $7,550 Prestige package, an $1,800 Edition One package and $595 paint, so its total should not be treated as the price of a standard-equipped S5.
Car and Driver lists fuel economy of 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined for the U.S. S5. In its own 75-mph highway test, the publication recorded 33 mpg; that is a road-test observation, not the listed combined rating. Check current EPA information and a dealer’s window sticker when making a purchase decision, since the review figures do not establish current listings or a specific car’s equipment.

The review also lists a four-year/50,000-mile limited and powertrain warranty and one year/10,000 miles of complimentary maintenance. Confirm the terms for the vehicle and market you are considering, since warranty and service coverage can vary by market and purchase date.
Is the 2025 Audi S5 worth considering?
The S5 makes the strongest case for a buyer who wants one car to cover commuting, passengers and brisk driving without a punishing ride. Its tested U.S. acceleration is quick, all-wheel drive supports confident cornering, and the liftback adds useful cargo access. Its main reservations are subjective but relevant: light steering, performance that may feel less theatrical than the numbers promise, and a cabin centered on large displays.
Car and Driver names the BMW M340i as a close performance competitor, but the available figures do not provide a like-for-like comparison of current prices, trims or test conditions. Treat that as a shortlist suggestion, not proof that one is faster, better equipped or better value.
