The 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron makes a strong case as a pivotal Audi electric SUV: it is built on Audi’s new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture and Audi USA lists an EPA-estimated range of up to 321 miles for the model. But those facts alone do not establish that it is Audi’s best EV so far. A fair verdict depends on the specific configuration and on real driving, charging, cabin and price comparisons that are not available here.
What makes the Q6 e-tron significant?
The Q6 e-tron is part of Audi’s PPE-based electric-vehicle family. Audi introduced the platform alongside the Q6 and SQ6 e-tron in its March 2024 launch announcement. That places the SUV within a new generation of Audi EVs, but a newer platform is context—not proof that the Q6 is better to drive or own than every earlier Audi electric model. Audi’s European launch announcement also reports 285 kW system output for the Q6 e-tron quattro and up to 380 kW for the SQ6 e-tron with its extra function engaged; those are European launch specifications, not US trim figures.
What is the 2025 Q6 e-tron’s range?
Audi USA lists a 321-mile EPA-estimated all-electric range for the 2025 Q6 e-tron. Treat that as a configuration-dependent estimate, not a guarantee for every trim or wheel setup. Check the specific US version and its equipment before relying on the figure. Audi USA’s 2025 Q6 e-tron page is the relevant source for the US-market claim.
Wheel choice is one reason to be precise when discussing efficiency: ENERGY STAR maintains separate listings for the 2025 Q6 e-tron quattro with 19-inch and 20-inch wheels. Use the listing that matches the vehicle rather than treating one configuration’s efficiency or range as universal. ENERGY STAR’s certified EV listings provide those configuration-specific entries.

How fast can it charge?
Audi New Zealand’s MY25 specification lists maximum charging capacity of 11 kW AC and 270 kW DC for its listed variants. These are New Zealand-market specifications; they should not be presented as a complete description of US-market equipment or as a promise of sustained charging speed. The maximum DC figure alone does not show how quickly the battery charges across a session, which depends on the charging curve and conditions. Audi New Zealand’s MY25 specification also labels its WLTP figures as guidance and for vehicle-to-vehicle comparison.
Why regional range figures are not interchangeable
The 321-mile figure is an EPA estimate published by Audi USA; Audi’s New Zealand specification uses WLTP figures for its own regional variants. Those figures come from different market and test contexts, so they should not be compared as if they were equivalent measurements. A sound comparison uses the same test cycle and identifies the market, model year and configuration.

Does the evidence show it is Audi’s best EV yet?
Not conclusively. The platform, the US range estimate and regional charging specifications help explain the Q6 e-tron’s place in Audi’s lineup, but they do not answer how it rides, handles, performs in everyday use, charges on a real trip, or compares with another Audi EV. A defensible “best so far” verdict would need a direct, configuration-matched comparison that includes driving impressions, charging-curve evidence, cabin and technology usability, and purchase prices from the same market and model year.
There is adjacent-year road-test context, but it should not be mistaken for a test of this 2025 model. Tom’s Guide describes a week-long evaluation, while its testing summary identifies the car driven as a 2026 Q6 e-tron; its reported 217.7-mile drive and 3.2 mi/kWh average therefore belong to that 2026 test, not a 2025 result. Tom’s Guide’s review page is useful only with that model-year distinction in mind.

What to check before choosing a configuration
- Range: Verify the EPA estimate for the exact US trim and wheel configuration rather than assuming the listed 321 miles applies to every version.
- Charging: Confirm US-market charging specifications and connector compatibility for the vehicle and charging equipment you intend to use. The New Zealand specification does not establish US connector fit.
- Home charging: A Level 2 charger may suit home use, but installation and equipment choice depend on the market, connector and electrical setup. The available specifications do not validate a particular US charger or installation.
- Comparison: Compare against another Audi or luxury EV using the same market and model year, matching range test basis and configuration, and checking performance, real charging behavior, usability and price.
