The 2025 Acura MDX keeps the fourth-generation SUV’s basic formula but makes its most noticeable change inside: every trim gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, replacing the outgoing touchpad-centered interface. Acura also revises the front styling, center console and safety equipment. The first-look evidence points to a worthwhile technology refresh, not a new-generation redesign—and it does not establish how the MDX drives on the road or how its new audio systems sound.
What changed on the 2025 Acura MDX?
Acura describes the 2025 MDX as a refresh of the existing fourth generation. The exterior gets a revised front fascia with an open-frame Diamond Pentagon grille, darkened lamps and revised wheels on several grades. Inside, Acura redesigned the center console to add storage and make the wireless charger easier to reach. A rear seatbelt reminder is new, and Acura updated standard safety hardware.
The central update is the new 12.3-inch touchscreen, standard across the lineup, with Google built-in. Acura also lists wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Those are manufacturer-stated features; the system’s availability and functions may depend on compatible devices and services.
Does the touchscreen fix the old MDX’s interface?
MotorTrend’s April 9, 2024 first-look preview called the outgoing touchpad frustrating and described the new screen as more intuitive and noticeably more responsive during its brief in-person look. That is a promising initial impression, not the result of an extended test of the interface in daily driving.

Acura Senior Vice President of American Honda Auto Sales Mamadou Diallo characterized the update as adding “incredible new tech” and a “quick and intuitive touchscreen interface.” That is Acura’s promotional description. MotorTrend’s brief preview independently offered a favorable initial impression of the screen, but did not establish long-term usability.
How do the engines and drivetrains differ?
Most MDX grades use a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6. The Type S with Advance switches to a twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. Front-wheel drive is available only on the base and Technology grades; all other configurations use Acura’s SH-AWD system.

Acura’s U.S. specifications list these engine outputs; they do not by themselves establish acceleration, handling or real-world performance. The A-Spec with Advance is a new 2025 trim combination, pairing A-Spec styling with Advance equipment.
Which trims get the upgraded audio and comfort features?
Audio equipment changes with grade. Acura lists an 11-speaker standard system, a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen system on Technology, Advance and A-Spec grades, and a 31-speaker system on the Type S with Advance. MotorTrend explicitly said it did not listen to the new system during its preview, so its sound quality is not established by that first look.

Acura says the Advance and A-Spec with Advance add massaging front seats. The Type S with Advance also includes a head-up display, 16-way front seats, heated outboard second-row seats, a heated steering wheel and a surround-view camera. Equipment can vary by grade; buyers should check the specific vehicle’s window sticker for its fitted features.
What safety equipment is included?
Acura says updated AcuraWatch hardware is standard across the lineup. AcuraWatch 360 and its additional features are specific to the Type S with Advance, rather than standard on every MDX. The available evidence does not establish an independent comparative safety rating for the 2025 model.

How much did the 2025 MDX cost, and what are its EPA ratings?
Acura’s U.S. pricing release dated March 24, 2025 lists the following MSRPs before destination. Its listed destination charge is $1,350, making the destination-inclusive figures below $52,550 to $76,600, before taxes, registration, options or dealer price variation. These are dated published MSRPs, not current transaction prices or a quote for a particular buyer.

Acura publishes the EPA ratings for comparison and cautions that actual fuel economy varies. The ratings show the trade-off by configuration: the listed FWD base and Technology models reach 22 mpg combined, while the Type S with Advance is rated at 19 mpg combined.

How much passenger and cargo space does it have?
Acura’s specification sheet lists 29.1 inches of third-row legroom and 16.3 cubic feet of standard cargo volume behind the third row. The maximum cargo figure in that position is 18.1 cubic feet. With the third row folded, Acura lists 39.1 cubic feet standard and 48.4 cubic feet maximum behind the second row; behind the first row, it lists 71.4 standard and 95.0 maximum cubic feet. The figures are based on SAE J1100 measurements. They describe measured space, not whether a particular adult will find the third row comfortable.
What does this first look establish—and what remains unknown?
The 2025 update addresses a clearly identified interface complaint with a standard touchscreen and adds a more flexible trim mix, revised cabin details and refreshed styling. Acura’s specifications make the engine, equipment, price and space differences straightforward to compare. But MotorTrend’s preview was brief: it did not include an audio audition, and the available first-look material does not establish road-test performance, long-term interface behavior or adult comfort in the third row.
