The Ram 1500 RHO pairs a 540-hp twin-turbo inline-six with long-travel suspension, 35-inch tires and a technology-rich cabin. It is plainly aimed at the Ford F-150 Raptor, but the evidence here supports a careful verdict: Ram publishes strong acceleration and capability claims, not an independent head-to-head win over Ford. Model year matters, too: Ram lists different towing and payload maxima for the 2025 and 2026 RHO.
What is the Ram 1500 RHO?
The RHO is Ram’s high-output, off-road-focused full-size pickup. Its central proposition is a combination of a 3.0-liter Hurricane High Output twin-turbo inline-six, specialized suspension and substantial ground clearance, while retaining the Ram 1500’s available large-screen cabin technology. The figures below are manufacturer-published specifications and claims, rather than independent test results.
Engine, acceleration and capability
Power and performance claims
For the 2025 model, Ram announced 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque from the 3.0-liter Hurricane High Output straight-six, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Ram claimed 0–60 mph in 4.6 seconds, 0–100 mph in 11.7 seconds, a 13.1-second quarter mile at 105 mph, and a 118-mph top speed. Its current 2026 RHO page repeats those acceleration and top-speed figures along with the engine output. These are Ram’s claims; no independent instrumented test is established here. Ram’s cited materials give different maxima for the two model years but do not explain the change. Actual towing and payload depend on the specific truck’s configuration, so use its door-jamb information and owner documentation when assessing a load or trailer.

Suspension and off-road hardware
Ram describes forged-aluminum front control arms, adaptive Bilstein Black Hawk e2 shocks and a five-link coil-spring rear suspension. The company says the RHO has up to 14 inches of rear axle travel and more than 40% additional rear wheel travel than the rest of the Ram 1500 lineup. Ram’s lineup announcement lists 11.8 inches of ground clearance and a two-inch ride-height increase over other Ram 1500 models. Ram’s 2025 lineup announcement details those chassis claims.
The 2025 launch announcement describes a full-time active transfer case with a 2.64:1 low range. Ram’s 2026 page lists a BorgWarner 48-13 full-time active transfer case, a Dana 60 rear axle and nine drive modes. The exact configuration and equipment should be checked against the model-year-specific window sticker and vehicle specifications.

Ram cites 35-inch tires for the RHO hardware story. A distinct Mopar ’25 package used 35-inch tires on 18-by-9-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and added a bed-mounted spare carrier, RamBar accessory bar, off-road running boards, front and rear tow hooks, spray-in bedliner and an 83-piece toolkit. Mopar said the package was limited to 250 units: 225 for the U.S. and 25 for Canada. That was a limited historical package, not an indication of current availability. Mopar’s ’25 package details describe the equipment and production quantity.
Cabin technology and equipment
Ram’s 2025 lineup material describes more than 50 inches of combined available display area, including an available 14.5-inch central touchscreen, an available 10.25-inch passenger display and an available head-up display configurable up to 10 inches. How does the RHO compare with the Ford Raptor?
Ram’s current 2026 RHO page says the truck has more standard horsepower, towing and payload than the standard Ford Raptor. That is Ram’s comparative claim, not an independently verified side-by-side finding. It should not be extended to the higher-performance Raptor R, nor does it establish that the RHO is superior off-road. The available evidence does not resolve comparative price and equipment, ride comfort, fuel use, or observed performance on road and trail.
For a valid buying comparison, match model year and configuration, then examine the actual equipment and ratings on the trucks being considered. The published RHO numbers establish a serious challenge on paper; they do not answer which truck drives better or suits a particular route or workload.

Price and ownership questions
Ram announced a 2025 RHO starting price of $69,995, plus $1,995 destination. This is historical launch MSRP context, not a current transaction-price quote. No current dealer pricing, incentives, inventory, fuel-economy figure or long-term reliability record is established by the cited information. For a purchase decision, check a current window sticker and dealer quote, and verify the ratings for the individual truck.
Verdict
The RHO’s strongest case is its specification mix: substantial claimed output and acceleration, purpose-built long-travel suspension, generous clearance, and Ram’s available display-rich cabin. Those details make it a credible Raptor rival by intent and published numbers. Whether it is the better truck remains an open question without independent testing against a comparable Raptor.
