The 2024 KTM 990 Duke is a new middleweight naked motorcycle built around a 947 cc LC8c parallel twin. KTM claims 123 hp and 103 Nm of torque, and its UK launch material lists a ready-to-ride weight of 179 kg. Those are manufacturer figures, not independent test results. Equipment, specifications and availability can differ by market, so check the exact local model before buying.
1. Where the 990 Duke fits in KTM’s lineup
KTM positioned the 990 Duke as a new step in the Duke range, aimed at the larger naked-bike segment. It is not simply a new name for an older model: KTM describes it as a substantially updated motorcycle with a new engine specification and chassis components.
KTM’s MY2024 launch release is dated November 7, 2023. Its descriptions and performance figures are manufacturer claims; the material available here does not establish independent road-test results.
2. The engine is a 947 cc LC8c twin
The 990 Duke uses KTM’s LC8c parallel-twin engine, with displacement listed as 947 cc. KTM says the engine was substantially updated, including new pistons, a new crankshaft and a new connecting rod. The KTM Malaysia MY2024 product page also describes the engine and motorcycle’s regional specification.

How much power and torque does it make?
KTM quotes 123 hp and 103 Nm. Treat these as KTM’s stated output figures, not independently measured power or torque. The launch material does not establish the conditions or a test method behind those claims.
3. The quoted weight is ready to ride—not dry
KTM’s UK launch release states 179 kg ready to ride. That convention should not be confused with dry weight: the figure is specifically presented as ready-to-ride, and no matching independent weighing is established here. When comparing motorcycles, check that both figures use the same weight convention.

4. KTM says the frame and swingarm are new
The 990 Duke has a new tubular frame and a closed-lattice swingarm, according to KTM. Regional product material also describes a die-cast subframe that incorporates the airbox and air intakes. These construction details explain the layout KTM specifies; they do not, by themselves, establish a measured handling advantage.
5. WP APEX suspension offers manual adjustment
KTM specifies 43 mm WP APEX front suspension with five-click rebound and compression adjustment. At the rear, the shock has rebound adjustment and manual preload adjustment. The setup instructions are available in KTM’s 2024 setup instructions. Check the applicable model’s documentation for the correct settings and adjustment procedure rather than relying on a generic setup.

9. Launch colors included Black and Electric Orange
KTM’s launch release listed Black and Electric Orange. KTM said the orange was developed for the Duke range’s 30th anniversary. Color availability can vary by country and dealer stock, so the launch palette is not a guarantee of current local availability.
10. Price and availability depend on market and date
KTM’s November 2023 UK launch release listed availability from February 2024 and a launch price of £12,999 on the road. Those are historical UK launch details, not a current quote. The same release listed availability in Australia and New Zealand from April 2024; it does not establish present availability or pricing in either market.
A regional specification can differ from the UK launch details. For example, KTM Argentina’s product page lists an 825 mm seat height, but its publication year is not shown in the available material. Verify the seat configuration and the figure for the specific market and model before using it to judge fit.
Quick Recap
What to verify before buying
- Ask the local KTM dealer for the exact model code and market-specific equipment list, including whether Track Mode is fitted or optional.
- Get a current written price and confirm local availability; historical launch prices are not current offers.
- Check the seat height and configuration for the motorcycle being sold rather than assuming regional figures apply everywhere.
- Use the applicable 2024 KTM owner’s manual for operating and maintenance instructions, and confirm the manual matches the motorcycle’s market and model.
- Do not treat the quoted output or weight as independent test measurements. The available material does not establish fuel economy, reliability history, ownership costs or independent riding impressions.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
