The 2024 INEOS Grenadier Station Wagon is a purpose-built, expensive 4×4: its BMW-sourced turbocharged six-cylinder engine, permanent four-wheel drive, two-speed transfer case and solid axles prioritize rough-road capability over polished pavement manners. Its original U.S. starting MSRP was $71,500, and published fuel-economy estimates are 15 mpg. It makes the most sense for buyers who value its hardware and will use it; price, fuel use, steering feel and access to service are important counterweights.
2024 Grenadier price and trims
INEOS Automotive’s U.S. MY24 price list, Version 1.1 dated April 2024, set the five-seat Station Wagon’s original MSRP at $71,500. The Fieldmaster Edition and Trialmaster Edition were each listed at $79,190 before options. These are model-year list prices, not current transaction prices or used-market values. The original Station Wagon lineup comprised the base model, Fieldmaster and Trialmaster. INEOS described the two editions as pre-configured for different off-road use patterns; compare the equipment on the specific vehicle rather than assuming either edition includes every desirable option. Engine, transmission and performance
The Grenadier uses a BMW 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline inline-six and an eight-speed automatic. Its permanent four-wheel-drive system works with a mechanical two-speed transfer case and standard locking center differential. Published horsepower figures differ slightly: Car and Driver reports 281 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque, while Cars.com lists 282 hp. The sources agree on the basic engine and drivetrain but not the horsepower figure, so treat output as approximately 281–282 hp rather than presenting one value as undisputed. Car and Driver recorded 0–60 mph in 7.3 seconds in its Fieldmaster test. The publication’s detailed specifications identify that test vehicle as a 2023 Fieldmaster, so the result is a test of that example, not a guaranteed time for every 2024 Grenadier. Fuel economy and range
Cars.com lists the 2024 Grenadier at 15 mpg city, 15 mpg highway and 15 mpg combined. Car and Driver reports EPA estimates of 15 mpg city and highway for the Station Wagon; its Trialmaster estimate is 14 mpg city and highway. In Car and Driver’s separate 75-mph highway test, a Grenadier returned 16 mpg. Off-road equipment: what is standard and what is optional?
Standard drivetrain hardware
INEOS’s announced standard configuration includes permanent four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case and a center locking differential. These are core parts of the Grenadier’s approach: the vehicle is built around mechanical 4×4 hardware rather than being a road-focused SUV with off-road styling. Rough Pack and tire fitment
The MY24 price list identifies Rough Pack as an available package. Cars.com describes it as adding front and rear differential locks and BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires in 17- or 18-inch configurations. Confirm that a specific vehicle has the package and check its tire placard, wheel size, load rating and fitment before buying replacement tires; the package description does not establish that every tire size fits every Grenadier. How the Grenadier drives on pavement
The same hardware that makes the Grenadier appealing off road shapes its on-road behavior. Car and Driver reports that the solid axles and low-geared steering require frequent corrections on all but the smoothest roads. The publication also notes that the engine needs to be worked hard for strong acceleration. Those impressions point to a specialized 4×4, not a comfort-oriented luxury SUV: buyers should weigh its rough-road equipment against the steering effort and less polished paved-road manners described in testing. Towing, roof loads and water crossings
INEOS’s U.S. support FAQ states a 3,500 kg braked-trailer capacity and warns that capacity can vary. The current U.S. Station Wagon page instead gives a headline rating of 7,716 lb. Because the figures come from different official materials and the current product page is not an MY24 specification sheet, do not use either figure alone to establish the legal limit for a particular 2024 vehicle. The current Station Wagon page also lists a 330 lb roof load while moving, up to 925 lb while parked and an 800 mm wading depth. These are current published figures, not confirmed MY24 specifications for every vehicle. Check the documentation for the exact Grenadier before planning a roof load or water crossing. The same announcement described a five-year/60,000-mile comprehensive warranty, three-year paint and accessory coverage, and 12-year anti-perforation coverage. Coverage can depend on the vehicle and market, so use the warranty booklet applicable to the specific Grenadier rather than relying on a launch announcement. INEOS recommended 12-month servicing at launch. Car and Driver reports a six-month or 6,000-mile interval for heavy or extreme use and says scheduled maintenance is not complimentary. Who should consider a 2024 Grenadier?
The Grenadier’s case is strongest for a buyer who specifically wants a mechanically equipped 4×4 for remote roads and off-road use and accepts the associated price, fuel consumption and less refined road behavior. Before choosing one, check how the desired equipment affects the actual vehicle’s price, confirm its towing and load limits from its own documentation, and consider whether nearby dealer and service support meets your needs. The available sources establish the Grenadier’s equipment and some published test impressions, but not a complete competitor-by-competitor scorecard, current used values, market-specific crash-test ratings or long-term reliability rates.
