The 2024 Honda Super Cub C125 ABS is a compact, retro-styled motorcycle built around simple local transportation: a 124cc fuel-injected single, four-speed manual transmission, front-wheel ABS, a 30.7-inch seat, and a 238-pound curb weight. Honda’s U.S. price is $3,899 before the $300 destination charge. Before buying one, however, check the VIN: American Honda issued a stop-sale and emissions recall covering 2019–2024 C125 motorcycles.
The 2024 Honda Super Cub C125 ABS is a small, retro-styled step-through motorcycle built around straightforward transportation rather than outright performance. In the U.S., it combines a 124cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine, a four-speed manual transmission, a low 30.7-inch seat, 238-pound curb weight, front-wheel ABS, and a one-gallon fuel tank. Honda lists it at $3,899 MSRP plus a $300 destination charge, before taxes, registration, dealer fees, and accessories.

There is one issue that should come before any discussion of price or equipment: American Honda issued a stop-sale and emissions recall covering 2019–2024 Super Cub C125 motorcycles. If you are considering a new or used 2024 C125, obtain the motorcycle’s 17-character VIN and verify its recall status with the official NHTSA lookup and an authorized Honda dealer. Model year alone cannot tell you whether a particular bike has received the remedy.

These are Honda’s published U.S. specifications. They describe the motorcycle’s dimensions and equipment, but they do not establish horsepower, torque, top speed, fuel economy, real-world range, acceleration, highway comfort, or hill-climbing ability. Those qualities require a properly attributed riding test rather than assumptions based on engine size or gearing.

What the C125’s specifications mean in daily use
Low seat and light weight
The 30.7-inch seat and 238-pound ready-to-ride weight are among the C125’s most relevant practical characteristics. They can make the bike less intimidating to maneuver, park, and push than a larger motorcycle, particularly in urban environments. The step-through layout also makes mounting easier than on many conventional motorcycles.
That does not mean the C125 fits every rider. Whether you can comfortably reach the ground depends on inseam, footwear, seat position, suspension sag, and riding posture. The published seat height is a useful comparison point, not a guarantee that both feet will sit flat.
A manual four-speed, not a scooter
The C125 uses a four-speed manual transmission. That distinguishes it from a twist-and-go scooter and means the rider must select gears and operate a clutch. The official specification confirms the transmission type, but it does not by itself prove that shifting will feel easy, that the bike will accelerate strongly in traffic, or that it will be comfortable on a particular highway.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchBefore buying, a new rider should clarify what kind of control they want. The C125 offers the familiar involvement of a manual motorcycle in a compact step-through package. Someone seeking automatic operation should look at scooters instead.
Front ABS is useful equipment, with limits
Honda equips the front wheel with ABS and uses a mechanical drum brake at the rear. Front ABS can help reduce the chance of front-wheel lockup during certain hard-braking situations, but its presence is not a promise of shorter stops in every condition and does not prevent crashes. Tire condition, road surface, rider technique, speed, and following distance still matter.
The one-gallon tank is a genuine limitation
A one-gallon fuel tank keeps the motorcycle compact but leaves less margin for extended trips than a larger motorcycle. Honda’s published specifications establish the tank capacity, not a verified real-world range figure. Do not plan a route around a precise mileage estimate unless you have a separately sourced fuel-economy figure and account for riding conditions, load, speed, temperature, and reserve practice.
For short commutes and local errands, the capacity may be perfectly manageable. For touring or remote travel, fuel planning becomes more important and the C125’s small tank should be treated as a constraint.

Engine, chassis, and equipment
The engine is a 124cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke with a 50.0mm bore, 63.1mm stroke, 10.0:1 compression ratio, SOHC valve operation, and two valves per cylinder. Honda’s PGM-FI fuel injection uses a 24.0mm throttle body.
Power reaches the rear wheel through a four-speed gearbox and a #420 chain final drive with 14-tooth and 35-tooth sprockets. Because Honda does not provide horsepower, torque, or performance figures in the supplied U.S. specification material, those numbers should not be filled in from an unrelated market or another model.
The chassis uses a 26.0mm front fork with 3.9 inches of travel and twin rear shocks with 3.6 inches. Its 48.9-inch wheelbase, 26-degree rake, 2.8-inch trail, 17-inch wheels, and compact dimensions are part of the C125’s maneuverable, small-motorcycle format. They are not a substitute for a road test when evaluating ride quality, stability, or suspension behavior with a passenger or luggage.

Important: check the 2019–2024 C125 emissions recall by VIN
American Honda’s October 31, 2025 dealer communication placed a stop-sale notice on new and used 2019–2024 Super Cub C125 motorcycles. The issue involved fuel-system permeation that did not meet emissions-certification requirements. Dealers were instructed not to sell affected motorcycles until the repair was completed, and Honda said owner letters were intended for December 2025.
A November 20, 2025 Honda update confirmed the C125 #1 emissions recall campaign and described support for affected dealer inventory while the issue was being addressed. These communications establish that a 2024 C125 requires recall diligence; they do not establish that every 2024 motorcycle is still unrepaired or that every one has been repaired.
Recall status is vehicle-specific. Before purchasing or continuing to ride a used example:
- Ask the seller for the complete 17-character VIN. Do not rely on a partial VIN, license plate, model year, or a verbal assurance.
- Enter the VIN into the official NHTSA recall lookup.
- Ask an authorized Honda dealer to confirm whether the C125 #1 emissions remedy has been completed and whether any campaign remains open.
- Request documentation of completed recall work and keep it with the purchase records.
- If the status is unclear, resolve it with Honda or a dealer before treating the motorcycle as ready to buy or ride.
The safe wording is simple: because Honda issued an emissions recall covering 2019–2024 C125 motorcycles, check the individual bike’s VIN and ask a Honda dealer to confirm repair completion. Model year alone cannot establish recall status.
Maintenance and documentation
The 2024 Honda owner’s manual should be the primary reference for operating, inspecting, breaking in, and maintaining the motorcycle. Honda’s manual emphasizes reading the safety information, following break-in guidance, performing pre-ride inspections, completing periodic checks, and understanding warranty responsibilities.
Honda’s official publication portal separately identifies the 2024 Super Cub C125 and provides owner’s-manual and parts-catalog resources. That is especially useful when shopping for a used bike: compare the VIN and model identification, obtain the correct model-year documentation, and match the seller’s maintenance records to the motorcycle in front of you.
Do not use a generic internet checklist as a substitute for the manual’s exact instructions. The supplied documentation confirms that the manual contains service information, but the relevant extracts do not safely expose every maintenance table. Therefore, verify the correct manual before relying on an oil grade, torque value, valve-clearance figure, chain-slack measurement, fluid specification, or service interval.

Honda also states that an official service manual can be purchased by owners who have the required mechanical knowledge and tools. That can be appropriate for advanced work, but a service manual does not replace training or a dealer when a repair involves safety-critical systems, uncertain diagnosis, or recall work.
Cargo: the first practical upgrade
The C125’s compact design also means that built-in cargo capacity is limited. If you plan to commute, carry groceries, or transport a rain layer and lock, start by solving the mounting problem rather than buying a random universal bag or top case.
Honda publishes model-specific installation instructions for a C125A Super Cub rear carrier. The carrier installs between the frame and rear shock absorbers, and the instructions refer to the service manual for the applicable tightening specifications. That makes a properly identified carrier a more logical starting point than an unverified generic rack.
A useful shopping search is 2024 Honda Super Cub C125 rear luggage rack. Marketplace listings vary, so verify all of the following before ordering:
- The listing explicitly supports the 2024 C125A or the exact compatible model range.
- The mounting pattern and included hardware match the motorcycle.
- The rack’s load limit is stated and is compatible with the intended luggage.
- The rack does not interfere with the rear shocks, seat, lighting, passenger area, or other equipment.
- A top box, soft bag, or universal plate is compatible with that particular rack rather than merely advertised as a motorcycle accessory.
- Installation instructions identify the correct fasteners and tightening procedure.
Honda Genuine Super Cub C125 accessories and an authorized Honda dealer are also sensible places to check model-specific equipment. Availability and pricing are market-dependent, and accessory fitment should be confirmed for the individual motorcycle before purchase.

For a new motorcycle
- Confirm that the unit is a U.S.-market C125A and record the full VIN.
- Run the VIN through the NHTSA recall lookup and have the dealer confirm the Honda campaign status.
- Ask for the out-the-door price, including destination, documentation, setup, registration, taxes, and dealer-installed options.
- Confirm the exact color and whether the advertised accessories are included or extra.
- Check whether the motorcycle is a California-emissions version if that affects your registration or purchase decision.
- Obtain the owner’s manual, warranty information, keys, and recall or repair paperwork.
For a used motorcycle
- Match the VIN on the frame and documents to the seller’s title and registration.
- Verify the open-recall result by VIN and obtain dealer confirmation of completed work.
- Request maintenance invoices and identify who performed the work.
- Check that the correct 2024 owner’s manual and any accessory instructions are available.
- Inspect the chain, sprockets, tires, brake components, suspension, lights, controls, and visible fluid leaks.
- Ask whether the motorcycle has been modified, stored for a long period, crashed, or used with cargo beyond the manufacturer’s stated limits.
- Arrange an independent inspection or an authorized Honda dealer inspection when the seller cannot provide convincing records.
- Price accessories, service, registration, and needed repairs before comparing the used bike with a new one.
Who should consider the 2024 C125?
The C125 makes the most sense for a rider who values compact dimensions, recognizable styling, a manual gearbox, simple air-cooled single-cylinder mechanicals, front ABS, and easy local transportation. Its low seat and light curb weight are attractive starting points, but a test ride remains important for confirming fit and control.
It is a less obvious choice for someone who needs substantial cargo space without accessories, wants a precise long-distance range figure, expects strong highway performance, or prefers an automatic transmission. Honda’s published specifications do not answer those performance questions, so buyers should not infer them from the motorcycle’s appearance or displacement.
