The 2024 Honda Rebel 500 is an approachable middleweight cruiser whose case rests on its low seat, compact proportions and straightforward 471cc engine—not a verified top-speed figure. Honda’s U.S. specifications and the matching road review do not establish a maximum speed. The review instead describes a bike suited to city riding and commuting, with firm suspension and noticeable vibration on longer trips.
What the 2024 Rebel 500 cost in the U.S.

Curb weights include fluids and a full fuel tank. Honda notes that California versions may differ slightly because of emissions equipment. Prices and specifications here refer to Honda’s U.S. 2024 model release; they should not be substituted with figures for other markets or model years.
What the three trims share—and what differs
All versions use a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin four-stroke with DOHC, four valves per cylinder, fuel injection and a six-speed manual transmission. ABS is the principal equipment distinction between the standard model and the two ABS versions; the ABS SE adds factory-installed accessories. The weight increases by six pounds from standard to ABS and by eight pounds from standard to ABS SE.

Honda’s U.S. specification sheet gives the Rebel a 27.2-inch seat height, 5.4 inches of ground clearance, a 58.7-inch wheelbase and a 3.0-gallon fuel capacity. Those dimensions support its compact, low-slung character, but seat height alone cannot establish fit: rider proportions and suspension setup affect how it feels at a stop. The modest ground clearance is also worth considering if your regular roads have tall speed bumps or rough surfaces. The 2024 Honda Rebel 500 specifications list the U.S. figures.
Is there a verified top-speed figure?
Not in the official 2024 Honda specifications or in the title-matching review. Honda’s specification release details the engine and chassis but gives no maximum speed; Michael Teo Van Runkle’s July 3, 2024 SlashGear review says the bike can reach highway speeds, but does not report an instrumented maximum-speed run. Informal rider claims are not a substitute for a comparable, documented test, so a precise top-speed number should not be treated as verified.

That distinction matters in practice: reaching highway speed is not the same as having strong passing reserve or being comfortable at sustained highway pace. The available review supports the first point, not a measured claim about the second or a maximum speed.
How it rides, according to the review
Van Runkle describes a relaxed, upright upper body paired with mid-controls that leave the rider’s knees bent. He initially needed to adjust his cornering inputs; after adapting, he found the Rebel nimble and appreciated its low, centrally carried mass. City streets and commuting
The reviewer characterizes the Rebel as a city cruiser and commuter. He found its behavior predictable on ordinary roads and said the engine had enough power for traffic and reaching highway speeds. The low seat and compact dimensions may appeal to riders who want a manageable-feeling cruiser, but they do not guarantee a comfortable fit for every rider.
Longer rides and rough pavement
The same review calls the suspension firm and its travel limited, and reports that the parallel twin gets buzzy fairly quickly on longer trips. Those observations temper the bike’s commuter appeal for riders who prioritize plushness or extended-distance comfort. They do not mean it cannot be ridden on the highway; they indicate that comfort over distance is a separate consideration from whether it can reach highway speeds. Is the 2024 Rebel 500 worth considering?
The strongest case is for a buyer seeking a relatively low, compact cruiser with a conventional six-speed gearbox and three clear equipment choices. The launch MSRP spread was $500 from standard to ABS SE, with ABS and factory-installed accessories distinguishing the more expensive trims. Whether that trade is worthwhile depends on whether you want ABS and the SE’s included accessories—not on an unverified top-speed claim.
For a used 2024 example, these original MSRPs are historical reference points only. A fair current price depends on location, condition, mileage and the actual listing; the launch figures cannot establish today’s market value. For a comparison with other cruisers, focus on fit, low-speed handling, suspension comfort, highway comfort, passenger or luggage needs, and the total price you are offered.

Accessories, safety and owner information
Honda’s 2024 feature release lists accessories including a main seat, headlight cowl, meter visor, fork cover and removable saddlebag. Check compatibility for the specific 2024 model and availability before buying; current accessory listings alone do not establish fitment or stock for that model year. Honda’s 2024 brochure states: “ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET, EYE PROTECTION AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING.” The same brochure says the slipper/assist clutch reduces clutch effort by about 30 percent; that is Honda’s stated feature figure, not an independent measurement. For year-specific operating instructions and maintenance schedules, use Honda’s official owner’s manual portal and select 2024 and Rebel 500. Follow the manual for the applicable model rather than relying on generic service intervals.
