The 2024 BMW X2 xDrive28i is a compact, coupe-shaped crossover with standard all-wheel drive, 241 horsepower and a technology-rich cabin. BMW announced it at a launch MSRP of $42,000 plus $995 destination in October 2023. Its styling borrows a visual cue from the larger X4 and X6, but the available information does not establish that it replaces the X4 in space, performance or positioning. Whether it is worth choosing depends on how much you value distinctive styling and standard equipment over a more practical shape.
Is the 2024 BMW X2 xDrive28i worth it?
It has a clear appeal for buyers who want a compact BMW crossover that looks more like a coupe than a conventional utility vehicle. BMW lists a 241-hp turbocharged engine, standard xDrive all-wheel drive, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 6.2-second 0–60 mph time. The standard equipment also covers key technology and driver-assistance features rather than leaving the cabin bare at the entry point.
The trade-off is that the sloping-roof silhouette is a styling choice, not evidence of extra utility. BMW lists 25.3 to 51.7 cubic feet of luggage capacity, but the published figures alone do not establish how that compares with an X4 or another rival. BMW’s $42,000 MSRP plus $995 destination is the launch price announced in October 2023, not a current quote or used-market value. How fast is the 2024 BMW X2?
BMW quotes 0–60 mph in 6.2 seconds for the xDrive28i. That is the manufacturer’s stated figure, not an independently measured result here. The engine is a 1,998-cc turbocharged inline-four rated at 241 hp at 4,500–6,500 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque at 1,500–4,000 rpm. It is paired with a seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission.

A May 2024 Motormouth review description characterizes the X2 as “sporty and engaging to drive” and praises its handling and comfort. That is the reviewer’s assessment, not a road-test finding by this publication. The same description reports 24 mpg city and 33 mpg highway; those figures are reviewer-reported and are not independently verified against an EPA listing in the sources available here. Some desirable features are optional or dependent on package configuration. BMW lists a panoramic roof, Parking Assistant Plus, head-up display, surround view, Harman/Kardon audio, heated front seats and steering wheel, and Driving Assistant Professional features such as active cruise control with Stop&Go. Do not assume those items are fitted to every xDrive28i.
How much cargo space does the BMW X2 have?
BMW gives the X2 a 179.3-inch overall length, 72.6-inch width, 62.6-inch height and 106-inch wheelbase. Ground clearance is listed at 8.1 inches. Its luggage capacity is 25.3 cubic feet, expanding to 51.7 cubic feet, according to BMW’s specifications. These are manufacturer figures, not independent measurements. The numbers describe the X2, but without matched X4 data they do not show how much more or less either vehicle can carry.

What is the difference between the BMW X2 and X4?
The evidence here supports a narrow comparison: BMW says the X2’s connected kidney-grille elements form an almost hexagonal contour “recalling the front-end design of the BMW X4 and BMW X6 models.” That is a styling reference. It does not show that the X2 matches the X4 in cabin room, cargo capacity, powertrain, refinement, driving character or premium positioning.
For a buying decision between the two, compare matched model years and markets using dimensions, cargo capacity, power and acceleration, standard versus optional equipment, and prices from the same date. The available X2 figures are not enough to declare an overall winner.

Does the 2024 BMW X2 have all-wheel drive?
Yes. The xDrive28i comes with BMW xDrive all-wheel drive as standard, according to the US launch release. The drivetrain description does not by itself establish how the X2 performs in any particular weather or road condition.
