The 2023 Toyota GR Supra A91-MT is a 500-unit U.S. special edition built around the fifth-generation Supra’s new six-speed manual. It keeps the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six’s 382 hp and 368 lb-ft output, so its distinction is the manual-only configuration and edition-specific trim—not extra power. Toyota also offered a manual transmission on regular 3.0 and 3.0 Premium grades.
What is the 2023 GR Supra A91-MT?
The A91-MT is a limited-run version of the fifth-generation Toyota GR Supra for model year 2023. Toyota announced a U.S. production limit of 500 units. That figure is the announced limit, not confirmation that all 500 were delivered or an indication of how many remain on the road today. Toyota’s April 2022 announcement and its September 2022 on-sale announcement identify the edition and its U.S. production cap.
The “MT” signals the manual transmission. The A91-MT paired the new six-speed manual with the Supra’s 3.0-liter inline-six and added distinctive colors, interior trim, wheels, and equipment. It was not the only manual 2023 Supra: Toyota’s model-year brochure also lists the six-speed iMT for the regular 3.0 and 3.0 Premium. The 2023 GR Supra brochure lists the A91-MT as six-speed iMT only.
What makes the A91-MT different from a regular manual Supra?
The principal differences are its limited-edition designation and specific appearance and cabin details. Toyota’s brochure lists the following A91-MT features:

These are manufacturer-listed specifications and equipment, not evidence that every feature is exclusive to the A91-MT across every Supra grade. Toyota’s April announcement used preliminary color and interior names—Matte White and Cognac—while its later on-sale announcement and model-year brochure use Burnout and Hazelnut. The later production names are the appropriate ones when identifying a delivered 2023 A91-MT.
Engine, transmission, and published specifications
The A91-MT uses the Supra 3.0’s turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, rated by Toyota at 382 hp and 368 lb-ft. The brochure lists the same output for the 3.0 powertrain; Toyota does not present the A91-MT as having a power advantage over a regular 3.0 manual.

Why did Toyota add a manual?
Toyota announced the six-speed manual option on April 28, 2022, after customers had asked for a manual Supra. In the company’s September announcement, Toyota vehicle marketing and communications vice president Mike Tripp said the company had taken that feedback to heart. That explains Toyota’s stated reason for adding the transmission; it is not an independent verdict on how the manual compares with the automatic.
Toyota says Toyota GAZOO Racing engineers worked with Toyota Motor Europe and German supplier ZF on the transmission. The company describes changes to an existing transmission housing and gear set, a newly developed shift lever, removal of unnecessary components, and a larger clutch with a reinforced diaphragm spring. Toyota also says the iMT software was programmed to prioritize sporty performance, with shift parameters intended to manage engine torque around clutch engagement and release. These are Toyota’s descriptions of the engineering and goals, not independently verified test findings.

The six-speed arrived alongside the existing eight-speed automatic. Toyota also announced manual-related traction and braking calibrations and broader 2023 3.0 suspension and steering revisions. The available manufacturer information does not establish which transmission is better to drive.

Toyota’s September 2022 announcement gave a $52,500 starting MSRP for manual-equipped GR Supra models at launch. That was a historical starting price for the manual lineup, not a confirmed A91-MT transaction price and not a current used-car valuation.
