The 2023 Honda SCL500 launched in the U.S. with a $6,799 MSRP and a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. Honda’s official U.S. materials document its specifications and equipment, but do not state a U.S. peak-horsepower figure or an instrumented acceleration time. Honda Europe published power figures for the related CL500; those are European-market specifications, not a confirmed U.S. SCL500 rating.
2023 Honda SCL500 price and availability
American Honda announced a U.S. MSRP of $6,799 on May 30, 2023, with availability beginning in June 2023. That is the motorcycle’s original launch MSRP—not a current used-market asking price or a guarantee of what a buyer paid. American Honda’s launch announcement gives the original price and timing.
Performance: engine, transmission and braking
What the U.S. specifications establish
The U.S.-market 2023 SCL500 uses a 471cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke parallel twin with double overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. Honda’s brochure lists a 67.0 mm bore, 66.8 mm stroke, 10.7:1 compression ratio and PGM-FI fuel injection with 34 mm throttle bodies. Power is delivered through a six-speed transmission and a #520 O-ring-sealed chain; the listed final-drive sprockets are 15 teeth up front and 41 at the rear.
Honda lists a 310 mm front disc with a two-piston caliper and a 240 mm rear disc. Anti-lock braking (ABS) is standard. The brochure highlights an assist/slipper clutch, which Honda says reduces clutch-lever effort by 30 percent compared with “previous systems.” Honda does not define the comparison baseline in that statement, so it should be read as the manufacturer’s claim rather than a quantified independent test result. Horsepower and torque: mind the market
Honda’s U.S. launch and brochure materials do not provide a peak horsepower or torque figure for the U.S.-market SCL500. Honda Motor Europe lists the related European-market CL500 at 34.3 kW at 8,500 rpm and 43.4 Nm at 6,250 rpm in its 2023 model-year material. These are European CL500 figures and should not be presented as a U.S. SCL500 specification. Honda Motor Europe’s CL500 material identifies that model and its output.
The available official U.S. sources also do not establish a measured 0–60 mph time, quarter-mile result or other instrumented acceleration figure. Manufacturer specifications alone cannot supply those test results.

Chassis, dimensions and riding layout
Honda presents the SCL500 as a street-scrambler-style motorcycle, combining an upright riding position and retro styling with a high-routed muffler and block-pattern tires. Its 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel arrangement is reflected in the listed tire sizes below. These are Honda’s design and equipment descriptions, not independent road-test findings.

The brochure also describes a passenger-capable seat. It lists a one-year transferable, unlimited-mileage limited warranty and notes optional HondaCare extended coverage; consult the brochure or a Honda dealer for the applicable coverage terms.

2023 colors and official photos
American Honda’s U.S. launch announcement lists Candy Orange and Matt Laurel Green Metallic. The 2023 brochure spells the green color Matte Laurel Green Metallic. Honda’s launch announcement includes a photo gallery with downloadable images, and the brochure includes a riding image, a side-profile product image and color swatches. For a photo reference specific to the 2023 model, use those original materials rather than images from later model years: Honda’s launch gallery and the 2023 brochure.

Honda’s 2023 brochure describes more than twenty accessory options, including a saddlebag, headlight visor, hand-guard deflectors and a 12-volt accessory socket. The brochure establishes that Honda listed these accessories, but not current availability, third-party fitment or marketplace listings. Buyers considering luggage should verify fitment and exhaust clearance for the specific product and motorcycle configuration with a dealer.
