The 2023 Honda CRF300L is a 286 cc, six-speed dual-sport motorcycle. Honda lists a 34.7-inch seat height and 306-pound curb weight for the standard model; the CRF300L ABS and lowered CRF300LS have different equipment or dimensions. Check the exact trim and market before using a specification or ordering parts.
Identify the 2023 CRF300L variant first
Honda’s March 1, 2023 U.S. release covers three versions: CRF300L, CRF300L ABS and CRF300LS. The standard CRF300L is listed without ABS; Honda lists ABS on both front and rear brakes for the ABS and LS versions. The LS is the lowered model, not another name for the standard bike. Honda’s owner’s manual identifies U.S. model codes CRF300L/LA/LDA and Canadian codes CRF300L/LA, so market and model code matter when checking parts or applying specifications.
| 2023 U.S. version | Seat height | Ground clearance | Front/rear suspension travel | Curb weight | ABS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CRF300L | 34.7 in | 11.2 in | 10.2 / 10.2 in | 306 lb | No |
| CRF300L ABS | 34.7 in | 11.2 in | 10.2 / 10.2 in | 311 lb | Yes, front and rear |
| CRF300LS | 32.7 in | 9.6 in | 9.3 / 9.0 in | 311 lb | Yes, front and rear |
These are Honda’s U.S. 2023 specifications, not independent measurements. Honda cautions that specifications can change, and the owner’s manual notes that pictured vehicles may not match every vehicle. For the source figures, see Honda’s 2023 CRF300L specifications.
Engine, gearing and fuel capacity
Honda specifies a 286.0 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine with DOHC and four valves, PGM-FI fuel injection, and a six-speed manual transmission. The 2023 release gives bore and stroke as 76.0 by 63.0 mm and describes the engine as a 25-degree single. Final drive is listed as 14T/40T, using a #520 O-ring-sealed chain. Fuel capacity, including reserve, is 2.1 gallons.
#1 Best Overall
- Intermediate/Hard terrain tire.
- Side knob surface indentation for added corner traction.
- Reinforced side knobs for control-flex characteristics.
- Large contact patch for maximum traction and stability.
- Strategically placed knobs for a consistent, reliable feel.
Capacity alone does not establish a dependable riding range; actual distance depends on consumption and conditions, and Honda’s cited specification does not provide a range figure.
What tires fit a 2023 CRF300L?
Honda lists an 80/100-21 front tire and a 120/80-18 rear tire. Those are size specifications, not a recommendation for one particular tire or a guarantee that every tire in those sizes is suitable for every use. Match replacements to the exact motorcycle and consult the owner’s manual and tire manufacturer’s fitment guidance. A road-focused tire and a more trail-oriented tire involve different compromises; no universally best option is established by Honda’s size listing.

Maintenance: use Honda’s schedule, not a shortcut
Honda places maintenance responsibility on the owner, calls for inspection before every ride and says to follow the inspection and maintenance recommendations in the owner’s manual. Its schedule includes drive-chain service every 600 miles (1,000 km), engine-oil replacement on a one-year cadence alongside mileage-based items, brake-fluid replacement every two years, and coolant replacement every three years. These are schedule entries, not a complete service procedure; follow the table’s footnotes and account for riding conditions.
Before attempting maintenance, Honda instructs owners to read the instructions, ensure they have the necessary tools, parts and skills, stop the engine and remove the key, work on a stable, level surface, and let hot components cool. The schedule marks some work as intermediate or technical. Use a qualified dealer when a procedure exceeds your skills or requires special tools. The official 2023 CRF300L Owner’s Manual is Honda’s reference for the full schedule, safety precautions and procedures.

Accessories and replacement parts
Honda Canada’s installation index documents accessory listings for a 2023 CRF300L RL grouping, including a skid plate, knuckle guard, rear carrier components, top-box parts, rally step, grip heater and accessory socket. This is evidence of a documented accessory path, not confirmation of current inventory, U.S. availability, crash performance or fitment across every model code.
Before ordering a skid plate, tire, carrier part or other accessory, verify the year, trim, market and exact part number with Honda or the seller. The Honda Canada motorcycle accessory installation index is useful for checking listed installation documents, but it does not establish that a part is stocked or compatible with every CRF300L variant.

Owner’s manual versus service manual
Honda provides a free PDF owner’s manual for safety, maintenance schedules and routine owner tasks. A printed factory-issued owner’s guide is also listed by Helm as a convenience option, with coverage including the service schedule, routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting; see Helm’s 2023 CRF300L Owner’s Manual listing.
The service manual is a different publication intended for professional technicians. Honda says its 2021–2023 CRF300L/CRF300 Rally service manual is available to U.S. owners through a Honda dealer or Helm; Canadian owners should ask a dealer about ordering authorized manuals. Some procedures require special tools.
