The 2023 Honda CL500—called the SCL500 in the United States—is a road-focused middleweight with scrambler styling, a 471cc parallel-twin engine, and chassis details suited to more than perfectly smooth pavement. Honda’s US launch MSRP was $6,799; Honda Europe Spain announced €6,750 for the Spanish market. Those are original 2023 prices, not current dealer or used-bike values.
What the CL500’s scrambler identity means
Honda’s scrambler cues are visible in the high-routed exhaust, upright handlebars, rubber fork gaiters, blacked-out engine and frame, and a 19-inch front wheel paired with a 17-inch rear. The 2023 US brochure also specifies wide rims. These details give the motorcycle a stance and equipment associated with scramblers, while Honda UK describes a compact, street-oriented package for city riding and weekend use. They do not establish that the CL500 is a dedicated off-road motorcycle or prove superior dirt performance.
American Honda’s 2023 launch announcement described the SCL500 as combining “all the key ‘scrambler’ styling elements” in an approachable package. That is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent assessment.
