Honda CB500X performance and engine
American Honda’s 2023 U.S. specifications list a liquid-cooled, 471cc parallel twin with an 18-degree crank arrangement, DOHC, four valves per cylinder, fuel injection, and a six-speed manual transmission. Bore and stroke are 67.0 by 66.8 mm, and the compression ratio is 10.7:1. Final drive is by a #520 O-ring-sealed chain with 15-tooth and 41-tooth sprockets.
Honda describes the engine as energetic and high-revving, with low-to-midrange power and torque supporting acceleration in the 3,000–7,000 rpm range. That is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independently measured torque curve. No independently measured acceleration or top-speed figures are established here, so a precise 0–60 mph time or maximum speed would be speculative.

Those dimensions offer practical clues rather than a guarantee of fit: 439 pounds is worth considering for low-speed maneuvering, while the 32.8-inch seat height affects reach to the ground. The 19-inch front wheel and 7.1 inches of ground clearance suit a bike intended to mix pavement with occasional rougher routes, but do not by themselves establish suitability for technical off-road riding.

Honda’s January 10, 2023 specification release lists front fork stroke as 5.2 inches, while its brochure and features page describe 5.9 inches of front travel. Because those published figures differ, front travel is not treated here as a settled specification. The sources agree on 5.3 inches of rear travel.
How much did a 2023 Honda CB500X cost?
American Honda announced a U.S. MSRP of $7,299 for the 2023 CB500X. That is the manufacturer’s suggested retail price when the model was new, not a current used-bike valuation or an out-the-door quote. Taxes, registration, dealer fees, location, and condition all affect an actual purchase price.

What replaced the CB500X?
American Honda announced on April 30, 2024, that the U.S. CB500X name gave way to the NX500 for model year 2024. Honda cited lighter wheels, revised suspension settings, and Honda Selectable Torque Control among the successor’s updates.

Honda’s U.S. offer page, accessed October 8, 2026, lists the NX500 at $6,899 base MSRP, plus a $600 destination charge, for a $7,499 total MSRP. This is current successor-model pricing, not the price of a CB500X; taxes, registration, dealer charges, and local availability may change a buyer’s total.
What the CB500X is designed to do
Honda positioned the CB500X as an urban commuter that could also handle weekend touring and excursions beyond paved roads. The manufacturer points to its upright riding position, windscreen, 19-inch front wheel, and suspension as parts of that all-round setup. This is Honda’s intended-use description, not an independent ride-test verdict.

For a buyer comparing it with another motorcycle, useful points to check include paved-road versus gravel use, seat height and rider reach, curb weight and low-speed handling, engine character and transmission, standard safety equipment, wind protection and touring range, model-year changes, and the total local purchase cost.

Honda’s 2023 brochure includes a product image and identifies Pearl Organic Green as the U.S. model color. The brochure labels its pictured bike “Non-US Accessorized Model Shown,” so accessories visible in that image should not be assumed to be standard on U.S. bikes. When selecting or comparing photos, check the model year and market: images of the 2024 NX500 show the successor, not a CB500X.

Replacement tires and owner information
The official 2023 U.S. tire sizes are 110/80-19 at the front and 160/60-17 at the rear. A matching size alone does not confirm that a tire is appropriate: verify the required load and speed ratings, construction, and fitment for the specific motorcycle before buying.
For operating and maintenance instructions, use Honda’s 2023 CB500X owner’s manual lookup rather than applying service intervals from a different model or year.
