But whether it was worth its price depends on which price you mean: CarBuzz’s September 2022 review cited a $69,895 base price, while Ford later cut the listed MSRP for the GT AWD Extended Range to $59,995 in May 2023, before destination and other charges. Those are historical figures, not current pricing. The review’s central verdict still makes sense: the GT was exciting, but its cabin and added performance did not make the high price an easy sell.
What CarBuzz thought of the 2023 Mach-E GT
In a review published September 25, 2022, Jared Rosenholtz described the Mach-E GT as a compelling, quick electric crossover whose price had become difficult to justify after a recent increase. CarBuzz praised its acceleration and handling, while questioning whether the cabin felt special enough for the money. This is the review’s dated assessment, not a verdict on what a used or new example costs today. CarBuzz’s full 2023 Mach-E GT review.
How quick is the regular GT?
CarBuzz reported 480 horsepower, 600 lb-ft of torque and a claimed 0–60 mph time of 3.8 seconds for the regular GT. Those figures made it one of the quicker electric vehicles in its price class in the context of the 2022 review. The numbers are the publication’s reported specifications and claims, not independent test results from this article.
For a rating reference, ENERGY STAR’s EPA vehicle record lists a 270-mile estimated range for the 2023 Mustang Mach-E GT, along with 288 miles city, 248 miles highway and 84 MPGe combined. It also lists a 10-hour 240V charge-time entry. EPA range is an estimate, not a promise of real-world driving distance; speed, weather, terrain, cabin heating or cooling, and driving style affect what a driver can achieve. GT or GT Performance Edition?
The Performance Edition trades some rated range for more torque and a quicker claimed launch. CarBuzz’s 2022 review said the package added $6,000 at that time; Ford’s May 2023 pricing announcement later listed the Performance Edition package at $5,000. These are different historical price points, not current quotes.
| Version | Power and acceleration reported by CarBuzz | EPA-estimated range | Other distinctions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mach-E GT | 480 hp; 600 lb-ft; 0–60 mph in 3.8 seconds | 270 miles for the 2023 GT, per ENERGY STAR / EPA data | CarBuzz praised its handling and acceleration. |
| Mach-E GT Performance Edition | CarBuzz reported 634 lb-ft and a 3.5-second 0–60 mph claim | 260 miles, as reported by CarBuzz | The 2022 review described grippier Pirelli summer tires, MagneRide adaptive suspension and Brembo brake calipers. |
CarBuzz found that MagneRide helped the Performance Edition combine sharper handling with ride comfort. That added hardware is most relevant to drivers who prioritize cornering grip and a more focused feel; the regular GT already offers strong acceleration without the package’s reported range trade-off.
Does it feel worth the money inside?
CarBuzz said the GT’s cabin differed little from the base Mach-E. The GT adds copper-colored accents, while the Performance Edition has more supportive seats. The review described the interior as premium-ish but not distinctive enough to fully justify the GT’s price. It also noted that the 15.5-inch touchscreen had improved through over-the-air software updates, and that BlueCruise was available. The review described the glass roof as standard for the 2023 model. Taken together, the cabin’s large screen, updated software and comfortable equipment make it usable, but the review’s criticism was about the gap between the asking price and the sense of occasion inside—not a lack of basic technology.

CarBuzz reported 29.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 59.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded in the regular GT; it reported 59.5 cubic feet folded for the Performance Edition. The review also cited a 4.7-cubic-foot front trunk. These are figures reported by CarBuzz, rather than measurements made for this article. The cargo capacity is a meaningful counterweight to the GT’s performance focus: it can serve as a daily family vehicle, not just a fast weekend car.
Why the price verdict depends on the date
Price is the key to understanding why the review called the GT too expensive. The figures below use different dates and pricing bases, so they should not be treated as interchangeable current offers.

Ford said in its May 2023 announcement that the Mach-E qualified for a $3,750 federal tax credit in 2023. That is a historical statement about 2023, not current tax guidance or confirmation of eligibility for a particular buyer. Ford’s May 2023 Mach-E pricing announcement.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How does it compare with the 2023 Nissan Ariya?
Edmunds’ 2023 comparison presents the Ariya Platinum+ as a close alternative on price at that time, with destination included in both vehicles’ listed comparison prices. It characterized the Mach-E as sportier and the Ariya as more comfortable, and found the Ford had a cargo advantage. These are comparison findings, not a universal ranking: a buyer’s preference for handling or a more comfort-focused drive can change which one is the better fit.
Charging convenience is another comparison point raised by Edmunds, but the available figures here do not establish a consistent charging-time comparison across the two vehicles. Check the exact model and charging setup rather than inferring a winner from the comparison’s broad discussion. AP-hosted Edmunds comparison of the Mach-E and Ariya.

Is the 2023 Mach-E GT worth buying now?
The historical review answers a specific question: at the $69,895 base price quoted in 2022, the GT was a great-driving EV that CarBuzz found hard to recommend on value. Ford’s later 2023 MSRP reduction changed that price context, but neither figure tells a shopper what a particular new or used example costs now.
For a present-day decision, assess the actual vehicle and transaction rather than carrying forward the old price verdict. Compare its asking price and condition with alternatives, verify the precise trim and equipment, and decide whether the GT’s handling and acceleration matter more to you than maximum rated range or a more comfort-oriented cabin. The available sources do not establish current used-market prices or present incentives.
