Yes—the 2023 Ford Expedition Stealth Performance is quick for a full-size, three-row SUV. Its twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 is rated at 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, and Car and Driver’s test found it reached 60 mph 0.2 seconds sooner than the Timberline it tested. “Three-row muscle car” is a vivid comparison for that acceleration, not a literal category: the Expedition remains a large, utility-focused family SUV.
What makes the Stealth Performance different?
Ford introduced the Stealth Performance package for the Expedition Limited and Limited MAX. For the U.S. 2023 model, Car and Driver identifies the Limited with this package as the 440-hp version. Ford lists a sport-tuned suspension alongside visual upgrades including gloss-black trim, red brake calipers and 22-inch black aluminum wheels. The package therefore combines performance-oriented hardware with a distinctive appearance; black trim and wheels alone do not indicate that a vehicle has the high-output setup.
Check a specific vehicle’s trim, wheelbase, drivetrain and installed equipment before assuming it matches those details. Ford’s package announcement covers Limited and Limited MAX, but the available sources do not establish a complete U.S. build specification for every individual configuration.
Is it actually fast?
Car and Driver reports that its Stealth Performance test vehicle reached 60 mph 0.2 seconds quicker than the Timberline it tested, which recorded 5.1 seconds. That is a comparison from the publication’s testing, not a guaranteed result for every Expedition; configuration and test conditions matter.

The power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic—not a V-8. Rear- and four-wheel-drive choices are available across the U.S. lineup. The 440-hp and 510-lb-ft figures are the ratings Car and Driver gives for the 2023 Stealth Performance and that Ford gave when announcing the package.
How does performance fit with everyday utility?
The Expedition is a full-size SUV offered in standard and longer Max body lengths, with three rows of seating. Car and Driver describes its third row as spacious compared with some rivals. The same review characterizes its road manners as truck-like and its cabin materials as less refined than those of some competitors, so the quick acceleration does not turn it into a sports car in ride or interior character.

Car and Driver lists model-level maximum towing of 9,300 pounds for the Expedition and 9,000 pounds for the Expedition Max. Those are lineup maxima, not verified tow ratings for every Stealth Performance vehicle. Confirm the rating for the exact vehicle and equipment before towing.
Why do published specifications vary by market?
“2023 Expedition” does not mean one universal specification. Ford’s Mexico page presents a 2023 Expedition with 400 hp, 480 lb-ft and seating for eight. Ford Colombia’s technical brochure, valid from October 2023, specifies a Colombia-market 2023 Stealth Performance 4×4 with 440 hp, 691 Nm, a 10-speed automatic, 22-inch tires and seating for seven. These describe different market and configuration contexts; they should not be combined into a single specification.

For a U.S. vehicle, use its own window sticker or build information to confirm seating, drivetrain, wheelbase and equipment. Do not infer those details from a brochure for another country or from a package name alone.

It makes sense for a shopper who wants full-size, three-row space and strong acceleration in the same vehicle, and who values the package’s dark styling. The trade-off is that it is still a big SUV with truck-like driving character—not a nimble muscle car. Compare the standard and Max lengths for the cargo utility you need, and weigh acceleration against ride and handling, cabin refinement, third-row comfort and the towing rating of the particular vehicle.
