The fuel-economy figures are estimates in the manufacturer’s 2023 buyer’s guide, not observed consumption or an independent test. Actual mileage depends on the vehicle and its use, including its service history and operating conditions.
What police and safety equipment does the guide list?
The guide’s “SELECT POLICE FEATURES” section identifies equipment intended for fleet service, including the VSIM, which provides an interface for vehicle systems. It also lists a police mini center-floor console, engine and idle-hour meters, heavy-duty electrical capacity, cooling and braking components, rear load-leveling suspension and vinyl flooring.

Yes. Public procurement records show that agencies ordered 2023 Durango Pursuit AWD vehicles, while also illustrating why a model name alone does not identify an individual SUV’s engine and specification.

- Washington State’s specification listing names a “2023 Dodge Durango Police Pursuit AWD” and says “Fleet deviations from retail: none” for its standard specification entry.
- A New Jersey procurement record lists one 2023 Durango Pursuit AWD configuration with WDEE75 body code, 2BZ quick order package, 3.6L V6 (ERC) and automatic transmission (DFT). That documents one configuration; it does not show that every Pursuit had a V6 or identical equipment.
What should you check before buying a former fleet Durango Pursuit?
Evaluate the particular SUV, not just the Pursuit name or its published specification. Fleet use can involve long periods of idling and specialized equipment, so ask for records and verify what remains on the vehicle.
- Configuration: Confirm the engine, drivetrain and factory options from the VIN-specific build sheet or reliable vehicle records.
- Service and operating history: Request maintenance records and check the engine and idle-hour meters if present. An idle-hour reading is useful context, not a complete account of wear.
- Police equipment: Identify which console, wiring, interface and other fleet equipment remains, what was removed, and whether any modifications affect ordinary use.
- Condition: Have the vehicle independently inspected, including its brakes, cooling system, suspension, tires and electrical systems.
Published specifications do not establish the reliability or remaining life of an individual ex-fleet vehicle. A vehicle-specific inspection and history are needed to assess those questions.
