KTM unveiled the production-intent car in October 2020, quoting 530 hp and a weight of 1,048 kg; the “2021” label refers to its racing context, not a documented redesign. Its Audi five-cylinder turbo, carbon monocoque and competition safety equipment were developed for track days and racing.
2021 KTM X-BOW GTX specs
KTM’s October 2020 world-premiere release gave the GTX’s headline figures. More detailed engine, transmission and speed figures below come from KTM Cars Japan’s 2021 entry specification, which uses metric horsepower (PS).
| Specification | Published figure | Source context |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | Audi 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder; 2,480 cc | KTM world premiere (2020) and KTM Cars Japan entry specification (2021) |
| Power | 530 hp | KTM world premiere (2020) |
| Power, detailed rating | 390 kW (530 PS) at 6,500 rpm, using 102 RON racing fuel | KTM Cars Japan, 2021; PS is metric horsepower |
| Torque | 615 Nm at 2,500–4,500 rpm | KTM Cars Japan, 2021 |
| Weight | 1,048 kg | KTM world premiere (2020) and KTM Cars Japan, 2021 |
| Power-to-weight ratio | 1.98 kg per hp/PS, as reported by KTM | KTM world premiere (2020) and KTM Cars Japan, 2021 |
| Transmission | Six-speed paddle shift | KTM Cars Japan, 2021 |
| Top speed | 276 km/h | KTM Cars Japan, 2021 |
| Dimensions | 4,626 mm long × 2,040 mm wide × 1,140 mm high; 2,850 mm wheelbase | KTM Cars Japan, 2021 |
| Fuel tank | 120-liter FT3 safety tank | KTM world premiere, 2020 |
These are manufacturer- or entry-release figures, not independent test results. In June 2020, KTM had presented the GTX as a GT2-class project and discussed projected output above 600 hp. That early projection was not the final-premiere GTX rating: KTM published 530 hp in October 2020.
What engine is in the KTM X-BOW GTX?
The GTX uses an Audi 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine. KTM Cars Japan’s 2021 entry specification lists 2,480 cc, 390 kW (530 PS) at 6,500 rpm and 615 Nm from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm. The output figure is stated in PS, a metric horsepower unit; KTM’s October 2020 world-premiere release described the output as 530 hp.

How the GTX is built for track use
KTM describes a carbon monocoque weighing roughly 80 kg, paired with a GT roll cage homologated to FIA Appendix J. The cockpit equipment includes a carbon-kevlar Recaro competition seat and a standard homologated six-point Schroth racing harness. These are manufacturer-described design features, not evidence of a comparative crash-test result.
The canopy uses a carbon frame and Makrolon windscreen. KTM says the windscreen can be replaced when worn. The brochure also identifies a camera-based rear-view system, adjustable racing controls and specialist endurance and racing hardware. Those details do not establish that components are generic bolt-on replacements or interchangeable with other X-BOW models; fitment and availability need to be confirmed for the specific car.

What is the 2021 KTM X-BOW GTX for?
KTM positioned the GTX for ambitious track-day drivers and semi-professional or professional racers. Its competition context is reflected in KTM Cars Japan’s February 2021 announcement of a GTX entry in the Japanese Super Taikyu ST-1 class. In August 2021, KTM also announced Miguel Oliveira’s participation in the Barcelona 24 Hours in a GTX. These are historical examples, not confirmation of current series eligibility or entry availability.
The GTX and the related X-BOW GT2 are distinct cars. KTM’s brochure identifies GT2-specific changes including a modified rear wing and central-lock wheels, which were optional on the GTX. A GT2 feature or eligibility claim should not automatically be applied to a GTX.

Is the KTM X-BOW GTX street legal?
The available KTM materials describe the GTX as a racing car and do not establish whether it can be registered for public-road use. Street legality depends on the car’s specification and the rules in the country or jurisdiction where it would be registered. Check with the relevant vehicle-registration authority and KTM or an authorized specialist before assuming road use is permitted.
