The 2020 McLaren Senna GTR is a track-only version of the Senna, built for circuit performance rather than public-road use. McLaren says it made 75 examples, with a published output of 645 PS per tonne and a downforce claim of 1,000 kg. Those are manufacturer figures; the sources do not provide an independent test protocol for them.
What is the 2020 McLaren Senna GTR?
McLaren describes the Senna GTR as a track-only car designed to deliver its fastest lap times outside Formula 1. The company says it was not subject to road or motorsport regulations in the same way as its road-going sibling. That purpose is the key to understanding the GTR: it is not simply a road Senna with a different badge, but a car intended for circuit use.
McLaren’s Senna GTR product page states that the car produces 645 PS per tonne and 1,000 kg of downforce. McLaren does not spell out a measurement protocol alongside those figures, so they should be treated as published manufacturer claims, not independently verified test results.
Is the Senna GTR road legal?
No. McLaren identifies the Senna GTR as track-only. The road-going McLaren Senna is the road-legal counterpart; the GTR is intended for circuit driving and should not be described as road legal.

How many Senna GTRs were made?
McLaren says it made only 75 Senna GTRs and that they sold within days of the car’s premiere. McLaren Group’s FY2019 investor presentation also listed the Senna GTR as in production and sold out in that period. These are historical production and sales statements, not evidence of current resale availability.

The 825 PS engine description and GT3-derived suspension come from a separate McLaren feature about Bruno Senna. They are not presented here as independently tested results or as a specification that should be silently combined with every other published figure.

Senna vs. Senna GTR: the practical difference
The clearest distinction established by McLaren’s materials is intended use: the Senna is road legal, while the Senna GTR is track-only. The available official information does not provide a complete, matched specification table for both cars, so a line-by-line technical comparison would imply precision the published material does not establish.
- Choose the road Senna as the relevant model if public-road legality is essential.
- Think of the GTR as a circuit-focused car if its defining feature is use on track rather than street driving.
- Keep performance numbers in context: the 645 PS-per-tonne and 1,000 kg downforce figures are McLaren claims, while the 825 PS description appears in a separate McLaren feature.
LEGO Technic McLaren Senna GTR model
LEGO and McLaren also announced a physical LEGO Technic McLaren Senna GTR building model in November 2020. LEGO gave its length as about 32 cm (12 inches) and announced a planned worldwide launch for January 1, 2021. The announcement listed historical launch prices of €49.99, $49.99 and £44.99; these are launch-era prices, not current pricing or proof of present stock.
