What the 2019 GLC 350e offers
Mercedes-Benz’s U.S. brochure describes the 2019 GLC 350e 4MATIC as a plug-in hybrid with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine and an 85 kW electric motor. The brochure lists combined output of 315 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, standard permanent 4MATIC all-wheel drive, and a 0–60 mph time of 6.2 seconds. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Mercedes-Benz’s 2019 GLC brochure describes four driving modes for the hybrid system and a nine-speed automatic in the GLC lineup.
Car and Driver lists an original U.S. MSRP of $51,645 and 25 mpg combined for the 2019 GLC 350e. The MSRP is historical, not a current used-car valuation. The mpg figure is a single gasoline-economy metric; it does not account for the electricity used or how often the vehicle is charged. Car and Driver’s 2019 GLC specifications do not list an electric range.
Electric range and charging: what is established
The available specifications do not establish an EPA electric-only range for the 2019 U.S.-market GLC 350e. Do not use the range figures for the redesigned follow-up as if they applied to this model year, or treat results from other certification cycles as directly comparable U.S. EPA figures.

Mercedes’ 2019 brochure says the vehicle can be charged at home or at public stations and that charging can take just over two hours, but it does not provide enough detail to attach that time to a specific outlet, charger, battery state, or charging interval. For a used example, ask for its charging hardware and check the vehicle’s own displayed range after a full charge; neither is a substitute for an EPA rating.
A plug-in hybrid’s displayed or certified range is an estimate, not a promise of how far a particular driver will travel electrically. The EPA explains that PHEVs can combine gasoline and electric power in different ways, complicating direct comparisons. It also notes that higher speeds, aggressive acceleration, or heating and air-conditioning can lead some PHEVs to use blended gasoline-and-electric operation rather than remain in electric-only mode. Keep the measures distinct when comparing listings or owner experiences: electric-only range is not total driving range; gasoline mpg is not MPGe; and charging time depends on the vehicle, power supply, and the portion of the battery being charged. The EPA’s label guide explains that a PHEV range display can show estimated all-electric range and total range using gasoline and electricity, while its charge-time value refers to charging a fully empty battery on 240-volt service. Cabin and cargo trade-offs
Mercedes says the hybrid system does not compromise the rear seating area, but the battery raises the flat cargo floor by 1.8 inches compared with other GLCs. The brochure describes the luggage area as large and level while acknowledging it is slightly below that of other GLC models. That raised floor is a practical consideration if you regularly load bulky items or need the full depth of the standard cargo area.

How the 2019 model differs from the redesigned follow-up
Mercedes announced a redesigned, third-generation plug-in GLC on September 8, 2019, with U.S. dealership arrival projected for the first half of 2020. Its announcement describes a 13.5 kWh battery, up from 8.7 kWh, and gives 315 hp, 516 lb-ft, and an estimated 0–60 mph time of 5.6 seconds. Those figures belong to the redesigned model, not the 2019 U.S. vehicle, whose brochure lists 413 lb-ft and 6.2 seconds to 60 mph. Mercedes-Benz’s announcement of the redesigned GLC 350e lists NEDC electric range of 46–49 km (about 28–30 miles) and WLTP range of 39–43 km, while marking EPA range “TBA.” These cycle-specific figures should not be presented as the 2019 model’s EPA range.
The redesigned-model announcement also lists approximate charging times of 7.75 hours on Level I at 1.2 kW for 10–100% and 2.25 hours on Level II at 3.8 kW for 10–80%. They are manufacturer figures for the redesigned model, not tested charging times for the 2019 GLC 350e.

Is a used 2019 GLC 350e a good fit?
It may suit a buyer who has dependable access to charging, prefers a luxury crossover with both electric and gasoline propulsion, and is comfortable confirming range and charging details for the individual car. The combination of the brochure’s claimed 315 hp, 413 lb-ft, and standard all-wheel drive gives it a clear performance-and-traction proposition on paper.

- Used-car checks: Have the vehicle and its charging function inspected. The specifications cited here do not establish a model-specific reliability record or current condition of any used example.
For a used purchase, the key unanswered question is not whether the redesigned model later received a larger battery, but what the specific 2019 vehicle can do today and whether that suits your commute and charging access.
