The 2019 Lexus RX 350L adds a third row to the RX’s quiet, well-finished cabin, but it is a better fit for occasional child passengers than for adults. On the road, it favors relaxed cruising over sporty precision: the cabin stays quiet and the highway ride smooths out, while town bumps feel firm and the extra heft shows in sharp turns.
What is the 2019 Lexus RX 350L?
The RX 350L is the stretched, three-row version of Lexus’s two-row RX. Lexus said the RX L body is 110 mm (4.3 inches) longer than the standard RX when it introduced the model in 2017; that is manufacturer-reported exterior length, not a promise of generous space in every row. Lexus’s RX L announcement provides that packaging context.
For the 2019 model, Edmunds lists a 3.5-liter V6 producing 290 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard in the configuration it describes, with all-wheel drive optional. Edmunds’ 2019 RX 350L review rates a Luxury Package, V6, eight-speed automatic, front-wheel-drive example, so its driving impressions should not be taken as a report on every trim or drivetrain.
Is the third row big enough for adults?
Not comfortably for regular adult use. Edmunds describes the third row as cramped and best suited to children. Reaching it requires moving the second row forward, which can reduce room for the passengers sitting there. The RX 350L therefore works more naturally as a five-passenger SUV with occasional extra seating than as a full-time adult-friendly seven-seater.

Lexus’s U.S. 2019 brochure lists power-folding third-row seats. The 2019 Lexus brochure is the source for that equipment; availability can differ by trim and market.
How much cargo space is left with all three rows in use?
Lexus Ontario’s Canadian-market specification table lists 210 L behind the third row and 1,650 L maximum. The 210 L figure is the space available when all three rows are in use; the maximum is with seats folded as specified by Lexus. These are Canadian-market figures and should not be mixed with U.S. specifications or treated as a universal measurement. Lexus Ontario’s RX specifications provides the figures.

In practical terms, raising the third row leaves limited room for luggage, so passengers and bags compete for space. If you expect to carry seven people and their luggage regularly, check the exact configuration in person rather than relying on the maximum cargo figure.
How does the RX 350L handle sharp turns?
Edmunds found the RX 350L reassuring on twisty roads, but less composed-feeling in sharp turns around town. Reviewer Cameron Rogers noted that “you can feel the 350L’s added heft” in a sharp town turn. That is a subjective road-test impression from the cited front-wheel-drive Luxury Package example, not an instrumented finding about measured body roll.

The steering is easy to use but provides little road feedback and little resistance near center, according to the same review. The result is a vehicle oriented toward calm, predictable progress rather than a particularly communicative or sporty drive.
Is the ride comfortable?
Comfort depends on the road. Edmunds found the ride firmer than expected over bumps around town, while the suspension smoothed freeway undulations and the cabin remained quiet. The reviewer’s overall impression was of a smooth long-distance cruiser, not a soft ride in every setting.

The 2019 U.S. brochure lists Lexus Safety System+ features including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Intelligent High Beams and Lane Departure Alert with Lane Keep Assist. Equipment availability can vary by trim and market, so confirm the features on the specific vehicle. The brochure’s equipment list describes the system. IIHS also maintains a 2019 RX page, but crashworthiness and headlight results can depend on configuration; check the applicable trim and lamps rather than assuming one result covers every RX 350L. Who should consider the 2019 RX 350L?
The RX 350L makes the most sense for someone who values a quiet, polished front cabin and relaxed highway travel, and only occasionally needs a third row for children. Its weaknesses matter more if you regularly carry adults in the back, need substantial luggage space with every seat occupied, or want sharp-turn agility and a plush ride over rough town streets.
When comparing it with three-row luxury crossovers such as the Audi Q7, Acura MDX or Infiniti QX60, focus on the points that shape daily use: third-row adult room, cargo space with all seats up, ride comfort, cornering feel, cabin noise and control usability. Edmunds and Cars.com identify those models among the RX 350L’s competitors, but this review does not establish a head-to-head ranking.
