The 2019 Jaguar XJ is a full-size luxury sedan offered in the U.S. with a supercharged V6 or V8, rear-wheel drive or—on selected versions—all-wheel drive, and standard- or long-wheelbase body styles. Jaguar’s 2018 launch-price schedule ranged from $75,400 for the XJ R-Sport to $122,400 for the XJR575; those are historical MSRPs, not current used-car prices.
What is the 2019 Jaguar XJ?
The XJ was Jaguar’s full-size flagship sedan. Jaguar described its 2019 model as having an expanded lineup and enhanced driver-assistance and convenience features in its 31 October 2018 technical press kit. The U.S. range included R-Sport, Portfolio, XJ50, Supercharged, and XJR575 configurations; equipment and drivetrain availability varied by trim.
The XJ50 marked 50 years of Jaguar’s flagship and was a long-wheelbase anniversary edition. It was available with either the 340-hp V6 or 470-hp V8. The XJR575 was the lineup’s high-performance version.
How much did a 2019 Jaguar XJ cost?
Jaguar’s U.S. technical press kit dated 31 October 2018 listed the following 2019 launch MSRPs. These are original manufacturer prices, not estimates of what a used XJ costs today.
#1 Best Overall
| 2019 U.S. configuration | Drive | Launch MSRP |
|---|---|---|
| XJ R-Sport | RWD | $75,400 |
| XJ R-Sport | AWD | $78,300 |
| XJL Portfolio | RWD | $84,500 |
| XJL Portfolio | AWD | $87,400 |
| XJ50 3.0 | RWD | $87,500 |
| XJ50 3.0 | AWD | $90,400 |
| XJ Supercharged | RWD | $93,000 |
| XJL Supercharged | RWD | $96,300 |
| XJ50 5.0 | RWD | $99,300 |
| XJR575 | RWD | $122,400 |
Jaguar later published a separate schedule with slightly different 2019 figures in its 2019/2020 model-year highlights. For example, that schedule lists the R-Sport at $76,000 RWD or $79,000 AWD and the XJR575 at $123,300. The two official schedules should not be blended into one price list. Current used asking prices depend on the individual car and listing date; the cited sources do not establish a representative current valuation.
What are the 2019 Jaguar XJ engine and performance specs?
All three listed gasoline engines are supercharged 5.0-liter V8 variants or a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Jaguar’s figures describe manufacturer specifications; the separate Car and Driver result below is an independent test of a different configuration.
| Version | Engine | Power and torque | Performance figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| V6 models, including XJ50 3.0 | Supercharged 3.0-liter V6 | 340 hp; torque not stated in Jaguar’s cited press kit | Car and Driver tested an AWD V6 XJ at 0–60 mph in 5.1 seconds; this is that publication’s test result, not a Jaguar claim. |
| 5.0-liter V8 models, including XJ50 5.0 | Supercharged 5.0-liter V8 | 470 hp; torque not stated in Jaguar’s cited press kit | Not stated in the cited material. |
| XJR575 | Supercharged 5.0-liter V8 | 575 hp and 517 lb-ft | Jaguar claims 0–60 mph in 4.2 seconds and a 174-mph top speed. |
The 5.1-second V6 result comes from Car and Driver’s 2019 XJ review. It is not directly comparable with Jaguar’s XJR575 figures because the engine, drivetrain, and source differ.
What is the difference between the Jaguar XJ and XJL?
In the 2019 U.S. naming, XJL identifies a long-wheelbase version. Cars.com says the long-wheelbase model adds five inches of rear legroom, making it the more rear-passenger-oriented choice. The XJL Portfolio and XJL Supercharged are examples in Jaguar’s lineup; a buyer should verify the exact body style and equipment on the specific car rather than assume every trim offered both wheelbases.

Which Jaguar XJ trim has a V8?
The 2019 U.S. XJ50 5.0 and Supercharged versions used the 470-hp supercharged V8, while the XJR575 used a higher-output 575-hp version. The XJ50 3.0 instead used the 340-hp V6. Drive layout and equipment depended on the configuration, so check the vehicle’s original specification or VIN-specific records when evaluating an individual listing.
What should you check when choosing a used 2019 XJ?
- Engine: Decide whether the V6’s output suits your needs or whether a V8 model’s higher power is a priority.
- Wheelbase: Compare the standard car with an XJL if rear-seat legroom matters.
- Drivetrain: AWD was available on selected versions; the press-kit price schedule lists RWD-only pricing for the Supercharged, XJL Supercharged, XJ50 5.0, and XJR575.
- Trim and equipment: The range and packages were trim-specific. Confirm the actual features on the car rather than relying on a generic model-year description.
- Condition and age: A used example’s condition, mileage, service history, and fitted equipment matter more to its value than its original MSRP.
